Purpose

The data were obtained to demonstrate a LA-ICPMS analytical procedure for U–Pb dating of cassiterite (SnO2) without reliance on an independently dated matrix-matched cassiterite reference material that was characterized by other (“higher precision”) technique such as ID-TIMS. We used an approach where the “true” age of the matrix-matched reference material was also determined by the LA-ICPMS technique and its reproducibility was tested by measuring it in each analytical session.
