Smith, D.C., and Wilson, J.L., 2018, Quality-Assurance Data: U.S. Geological Survey data release, https://doi.org/10.5066/P9OFYN3C.
Summary
These data contain concentrations of major and trace elements in quality-assurance samples. These are the machine-readable versions of Tables 2–5 from the U.S. Geological Survey Scientific Investigations Report, Distribution of Mining Related Trace Elements in Streambed and Floodplain Sediment along the Middle Big River and Tributaries in the Southeast Missouri Barite District, 2012-15 (Smith and Schumacher, 2018). Table_2 contains concentrations of major and trace elements in regular and replicate streambed-sediment samples in samples BR-02 and BR-04. Each sample was sieved and analyzed for concentrations within the less than 2-, less than 0.250-, and less than 0.063-mm size fraction. Averaged relative percent difference (RPD) values [...]

Averaged relative percent difference (RPD) values were calculated for each metal and size-fraction combination.
Table_3 contains concentrations of major and trace elements in standard reference materials measured by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency's (EPA's) x-ray fluorescence (XRF) unit.
Table_4 contains concentrations of major and trace elements in standard reference materials measured by the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) Missouri Water Science Center's XRF unit.
Table_5 contains concentrations of major and trace elements in quality-assurance blank samples before and after splitting and sieving.

Purpose
These data were used to determine the effect of splitting and sieving, the accuracy of each XRF unit, and whether splitting and sieving equipment were introducing contamination into samples.
