Summary

The dataset includes water temperature and atmospheric pressure data collected from selected key tributaries Clear Lake, Lake County, California, used for spawning by the Clear Lake Hitch (Lavinia exilicauda chi): Kelsey Creek, Siegler Creek, Middle Creek, Adobe Creek, and Cole Creek. Data were collected with ONSET HOBO Model U20L-002 loggers.

Purpose

The Clear Lake Hitch (Lavinia exilicauda chi) is an imperiled potamodromous cyprinid that undertakes rapid migrations from the single freshwater lake it occupies (Clear Lake, Lake County, California, USA) into seasonally-ephemeral tributary streams for spawning. Adult migration, spawning, embryo incubation, larval development, and juvenile emigration all occur during a short temporal window during the spring season when dry stream beds become temporarily inundated from seasonal rains. These data were collected to monitor the water temperature in key spawning tributaries.
