Summary

This tabular dataset represents monthly flow at 160 stream gages used for surface-water flow and flow-difference observations for the Rio Grande Transboundary Integrated Hydrologic Model (RGTIHM). Flow in this tabular dataset is specified monthly, when available, at each observation point as a rate (volume per time) in units of cubic feet per day. See the Site_Name attribute in the RGTIHM_Surface_Water_Obs feature class for the location of the stream gages.

Purpose

This dataset was created as part of a U.S. Geological Survey study, done in cooperation with the U.S. Bureau of Reclamation, to be used as input data for the Rio Grande transboundary integrated hydrologic model and water-availability analysis, New Mexico and Texas, United States, and Northern Chihuahua, Mexico. This dataset was filtered for use as observations during model calibration. The months corresponding to the first, second, third, and fourth annual quartiles of monthly flow at the Rio Grande below Caballo Dam stream gage (see the Annual Quartile attribute in the Rio_Grande_below_Caballo_fractions tabular dataset) were selected from this dataset for use in model calibration. Observations of surface-water flow from months not classified as quartiles were not used in model calibration.
