Summary

These data are U-Pb sensitive high-resolution ion microprobe (SHRIMP) geochronology data from quartz porphyry dikes for the study of the Butte mining district, U.S.A. Results of the study are described and interpreted in Lund and others (2018).

Purpose

The study provides age data to test ore-deposit models for relations between stockwork Cu-Mo and Ag-Zn-Cu lodes at Butte, Montana, by undertaking a comprehensive district-wide, SHRIMP U-Pb study of dike emplacement ages combined with 40Ar/39Ar study of host rock cooling and reheating as well as 40Ar/39Ar study of muscovite in alteration adjacent to lodes.
