Descriptive Catalog of the Photographs of the United States Geological Survey of the Territories, W. H. Jackson, Photographer, Second Edition, Illustrated, 1871 Series, page 31, No. 297: Crater of Grotto, a few rods below the Giant, and ensconced in a grove of trees. It differs externally from all the other craters, but, like the rest, consists of a mass of siliceous sinter, twelve feet in diameter and five feet high, full of large sinuous orifices from which the water is projected during an eruption.
