Text reads: "TRAGEDY A memorial plaque has been placed on the large dolomite boulder above and behind this sign in remembrance of the 28 men, women and children who lost their lives in the Madison River Earthquake of August 17, 1959... This slide is the final resting place for 19 persons." (Text edited for this card). Gallatin County, Montana. July 6, 1984.
