Summary

This data release is a compilation of the locations of airborne geophysical surveys in the United States. The inventory documents public airborne geophysical surveys primarily flown by or contracted by the USGS from 1943 to present. In addition, surveys from the State of Alaska, Department of Natural Resources, Division of Geological and Geophysical Surveys (DGGS): Airborne GeophysWeb, the Bureau of Land Management, the Department of Energy and other state agencies have also been included. Purpose

This dataset documents the spatial footprint and survey details of public airborne geophysical surveys in the United States that have been conducted by or contributing to U.S. Geological Survey programs and other federal and state agencies. The inventory has been an internally maintained product with a public facing web service (U.S. Geological Survey, 2018). The workflow has been modified to formally document the inventory prior to web delivery with regular updates as new surveys become available. The data are suitable for use in Geographic Information Systems (GIS) or other database and geospatial software.
