Following a methodology developed by Idaho Department of Lands, areas with 100 miles of the ecoregion were examined for urban areas that could be within a two hour drive from areas within the ecoregion. Using the ESRI streetmap road network and speed limit, a cost distance analysis was run to determine areas within two hours of urban areas with populations over 20,000 people within the ecoregion or within 100 miles (estimate two hour drive). The goal was to highlight areas near urban areas where OHV use could take place.
