These geospatial data are versions—updated for accuracy—of those used to construct semi-daily lava-flow maps during the 2018 eruption, and they have been incorporated into maps for the U.S. Geological Survey Professional Paper chapter that is preliminarily titled "Chronological narrative for the 2018 eruption of Kīlauea" by Parcheta, C.E. and others (in preparation). Feature data are also included for sample sites in the U.S. Geological Survey data release "Whole-rock and glass chemistry of lava samples collected during the 2018 lower East Rift Zone eruption of Kīlauea" by Lee, R.L. and others (2019). This report supersedes the "Preliminary map of the 2018 lower East Rift Zone eruption of Kīlauea Volcano, Island of Hawaiʻi" by the Hawaiian Volcano Observatory staff (2018).
