Summary

This dataset contains information on the survival of sagebrush seedlings originating from seed collected from 3 'local' populations over 2+ years. Datasets presented consist of individual seedling survival, growth and reproduction data as well as population level results as they relate to the differences in modeled and calculated climate variables and the differences between the climatic conditions of the seed source sites and the common garden sites.

Purpose

Sagebrush seed source populations were growing in sites with similar climatic conditions. The resulting seedlings were planted in 3 separate common gardens over an elevational / climatic gradient to evaluate differential survival, growth, and reproductive effort to infer the differences in adaptation to site-specific conditions. The observed patterns in variable rates of survival, growth, and reproductive effort were used to test the predictive suitability of the two most currently available seed transfer zone guidelines; one developed from empirical data and provisional seed zones developed based upon climate indices.
