Nolan; Sample Type: hand sample; thin section; Notes: Location taken from Tonopah Extension Mine shaft; Megascopic Characteristics: Angular fragments of altered, gray wall rock included in a moderately dense, light quartz and mineralization in turn included as angular fragments in a dark gray to black quartz. Locally vuggy and joint planes lined with euhedral quartz slx. Minor pyrite. Microscopic Characteristics: Mostly fine-grained quartz with minor sericite and remnants of a high index carbonate with veinlets and veins of a coarse-grained quartz which shows numerous stages of growth.
