Summary: Glacier National Park, Montana, large boulder on Grinnell Glacier. Description with photo reads: 'Great boulders fall from the cliffs above Grinnell Glacier at present, as they have fallen for thousands of years past. Here is a mass of limestone that thus fell a long time ago, gradually worked through the glacier from top to bottom, where it ground the mountain floor as the glacier carried it along. It turned like a top, polishing its massive base as smooth as a billiard table. A few years ago this boulder was at the edge of the ice, and around its base a rushing glacial torrent noisily sought the lower level.
