The divide and portage lie this side of the mtns., approximately over the left edge of the till plateau remnant, and is low and open, with lakelets, ponds, etc. The drainage coming in from right, along the base of the barefaced mtns., is on arctic side of portage and flows out northward to the arctic coast.
