This dataset was developed to quantify timing, extent, depth, and duration of inundation for floodplains on the Middle Mississippi River, and to assess relative potential for ecological restoration with a variety of biological endpoints. We developed a suite of metrics which characterize inundation timing and extent that will be useful to floodplain managers in for planning restoration efforts. We developed this layer to provide a base elevation from which to calculate inundation depths. This dataset is derived from multiple LIDAR and bathymetric surveys from a variety of state and federal agencies across several states. This set of raster data describes a modeling scenario in which existing levees along the Middle Mississippi River were left in place (baseline scenario).
