National Assessment of Oil and Gas Project - Powder River Basin Province (033) Maughan and Perry Lineaments

This dataset represents lineaments in the Powder River Basin as identified in the following publication: Maughan, E.K., and Perry, W.J., Jr., 1986, Lineaments and their tectonic implications in the Rocky Mountains and adjacent plains region: in Peterson, J.A., ed, Paleotectonics and Sedimentation in the Rocky Mountain Region, United States: American Association of Petroleum Geologists Memoir 41, pp. 41-56. A lineament is defined as a linear topographic feature of regional extent that is believed to reflect crustal structure (Hobbs et al., 1976, p. 267). Lineament features were transferred from the publication to a hard-copy base map by province geologist, then digitized and referenced for use in a Geographic Information System (GIS). [...]
