Summary

This dataset consists of methane flux data collected with eddy covariance methods; and methane ebullition data collected with gas traps, time-lapse cameras, and capacitance probe measurements. Inferred bubble production and soil volumetric gas content data from capacitance probe measurements also are included. These data were collected from July to November 2016 at two forested wetlands in Big Cypress National Preserve, Florida. Gas trap, time-lapse camera, and capacitance probe data were collected at platforms located within the source area of each eddy covariance tower in forested wetlands. Purpose

The purpose of this study was to investigate variability in methane ebullition within forested wetland ecosystems adjacent to the coastline, and the contribution of methane ebullition to total methane fluxes estimated with eddy-covariance measurements. Spatial heterogeneities and short-term variations in the frequency and magnitude of methane ebullition were characterized using gas traps, time-lapse cameras, and capacitance probes.
