The Combined Zonation Results is an output of the prioritization process of the Midwest Landscape Initiative’s (MLI) 2023 Midwest Conservation Blueprint. The Blueprint is a basemap of priority lands and waters for conservation across the Midwest consisting of over 20 social and environmental values representing diverse interests across society. We synthesize these input datasets in the spatial prioritization software Zonation v5. Each input data set corresponds to a targetable, important feature that represents at least one ecological or societal priority on the landscape. The output of the prioritization analysis seen in this layer is a representation of the priority of each pixel, ranked from a value of 0 to 1, across the Midwest Landscape. Priority of each pixel increases as you increase in value from 0 to 1. The Combined Zonation Results are then used as an input to identify important areas for connectivity between prioritized core areas.
