Summary

The Bank Stability and Toe Erosion Model (BSTEM) version 3.3.1 (Ursic and Langendoen, 2021) was used to predict bank retreat at five locations along Caulks Creek, Wildwood, Missouri, for a selection of design storm scenarios. BSTEM is a macro-enabled Excel spreadsheet (.xlsm file) that simulates the retreat of a bank profile due to a combination of fluvial and geotechnical processes. These BSTEM simulations build on hydrologic and hydraulic modeling of Caulks Creek for a wide variety of design storm scenarios that represent both current and future climate conditions (Heimann and others, 2024). The six design storm scenarios selected for BSTEM simulations include storms of 6-hour duration with 2-year (2yr), 10-year (10yr), and 100-year [...]

Provenance

These simulations were produced in cooperation with the City of Wildwood, Missouri. Bank profile data is from Hix (2024), and hydraulic inputs are from Heimann and others (2024). Model simulations were done by J.Z. LeRoy.
