Summary

This data release contains inputs for and outputs from hydrologic simulations for the Alaska/Yukon (AK) domain using the Precipitation Runoff Modeling System (PRMS) version 5.2.1.1 and the USGS National Hydrologic Model infrastructure (NHM, Regan and others, 2018).. Simulated streamflow (NHM-PRMS_data_release.nc) and statistics at streamgages (gage_stats_gm.csv) are provided for one precalibration and one calibration configurations(byHRU). The streamgage statistics file provides the Nash-Sutcliffe Efficiency Index between observed and simulated streamflow using daily, log of daily, monthly, and log of monthly values along with the bias, and drainage area for the model and streamgage for each Point-of-Interest (POI) in the simulation. Purpose

The purpose of this data release is to provide an archive of the Alaska NHM PRMS files needed to run the AK NHM and replicate results.). This work contributes to an understanding of the hydrologic cycle of the State of Alaska and the part of the Canadian Yukon Territory draining into Alaska. The domain has been modeled using the Precipitation Runoff Modeling System (PRMS; pubs.usgs.gov/tm/6b7/pdf/tm6-b7.pdf; https://www.usgs.gov/software/precipitation-runoff-modeling-system-prms) as part of the Integrated Water Availability Assessments (IWAA), Water Resources Mission Area (WMA), National Hydrologic Modeling applications (AK NHM; https://www.usgs.gov/mission-areas/water-resources/science/integrated-water-availability-assessments). PRMS is a deterministic, distributed-parameter, physical-process-based modeling system developed to evaluate the response of streamflow and general basin hydrology to various combinations of climate and land use.
