Summary
This is a dataset that contains botanic gardens in the contiguous Unite States, derived from the Botanic Gardens Conservation International (BGCI) database. This dataset contains 997 rows of data representing 997 unique institutions classified as botanic gardens, which also includes zoos, gene and seed banks, and tissue culture and cryopreserved collection. The BGCI database contains founding dates for 472 of these institutions. This dataset includes botanic garden names, state and county the institution is located in, county area, county FIPS code, and founding year of the botanic garden, where data is available.
