This collection consists of "Geologic and Seismic Investigation" reports along existing and/or proposed state roads and interstates. These were prepared as part of a USGS cooperative program with the then-called Massachusetts Department of Public Works (MDPW) in the 1960's. These investigations and reports were prepared by geologists such as R.N. Oldale, C.R. Tuttle and L.W. Currier. The seismic data consists of seismic refraction profiles. The reports are stored at MHD headquarters in the Transportation Building at 10 Park Plaza, Boston.
