Purpose

These data were collected as part of a larger project creating a vulnerability assessment of brine contamination to aquatic resources in the Prairie Pothole Region (PPR) of the Williston Basin. This assessment is based on the age and density of oil wells, percentage of glacial outwash, number of wetlands, and stream length per county. The water samples were collected and assessed for the ratio of chloride concentration to specific conductance in the sample, to validate the vulnerability assessment. Ratios> 0.035 indicate contamination.
