Summary

This ScienceBase Item is a collection that contains the citation references used as a basis for the meta analysis in the Dam Removal Science Database. It started as the list of citations used in the Powell Center synthesis project and receives new citations discovered in ongoing algorithm-assisted mining of literature. Citations in the collection include items already in ScienceBase from other sources (e.g., USGS Publications Warehouse) as well as new citations that first originated with the Dam Removal Science Database development.

Purpose

This collection serves as a dynamic dataset of citation information with persistent identifiers used in the distributed data system for the National Dam Removal Science Database and the Dam Removal Information Portal (DRIP). The DRIP application is accomplished through an instance of the citation metadata loaded to a CartoDB instance (reference web link)

Rights

The collection of citations and their citation metadata are produced by the USGS and released in the public domain. Individual citations may have different rights for the actual content.

Citations were originally imported from a series of bibliographic files produced by the Powell Center working group on dam removal science. These citation references were rectified with citation records already in ScienceBase. New citations are added over time through various processes associated with continued development of the National Dam Removal Science Database.
