Summary

The GIS shapefile and spreadsheet tables show the 2016 agriculture irrigated land use for Escambia, Santa Rosa, and Okaloosa Counties developed through a cooperative project between the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) and the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services (FDACS), Office of Agricultural Water Policy. Information provided in this layer includes crop type, irrigation system type, and primary water source for all irrigated land within these three counties.

Purpose

A detailed digital map and summary of field-verified irrigated acreage within Escambia, Santa Rosa, and Okaloosa Counties for the 2016 calendar year is provided. The map and acreage summary in this study will be compared against the Florida Statewide Agricultural Irrigation Demand (FSAID) Irrigated Lands Geodatabase (ILG), version 2, prepared by the FDACS and the Balmoral Group (LLC) in 2014. Field validated spatial data on crop types, irrigated acreage totals, and irrigated lands on the FSAID map provides FDACS a better level of accuracy for estimating current and future water demands.
