Summary

Between November 2014 and June 2016 the U.S. Geological Survey, Pacific Coastal and Marine Science Center (PCMSC) conducted eight repeat, high-resolution bathymetry and acoustic-backscatter surveys of a small patch of seafloor offshore Santa Cruz in northern Monterey Bay, California. PCMSC also collected oceanographic time-series data over the same two year period. This part of the data release provides the eight acoustic-backscatter datasets and FGDC metadata.

Purpose

The eight repeat bathymetry and acoustic-backscatter dataset as well as the time-series data were originally collected to study the structure and evolution of a field of Ripple Scour Depressions found in northern Monterey Bay, California. These data are intended for science researchers, students, policy makers, and the general public. These data can be used with geographic information systems or other software to identify bathymetric features. These data are not intended to be used for navigation.
