Purpose

Rock samples were collected by the Bureau of Economic Geology or the U.S. Geological survey from 2010 to 2016 and analyzed by Core Laboratories from 2015 to 2017. Samples were analyzed to assess the Upper Cretaceous Tuscaloosa marine shale (TMS) sealing capacity for geologic CO2 sequestration, and in support of the U.S. Geological Survey assessment of undiscovered petroleum resources in the TMS.
