The purpose of the database is to provide a centralized location of descriptive information on all known habitat, biodiversity, and aquatic resource quantification tools developed for market-based conservation in the United States. The database is meant to help practitioners engaged in compensatory mitigation, non-compensatory mitigation, or voluntary conservation/restoration more easily identify and understand what quantification tools have been developed to assess site quality/functionality or tools that exist which could be adapted to such applications. Information in the database can be used to understand, for example, the data demands of different tools, intended users, required user skill level, what tools are applicable to different market types, the taxa and habitat types to which existing tools apply, and who to contact for more information about individual tools.
