Album caption and index card: Hebgen Lake earthquake. The broad mud flats, stranded boats, and emerged docks exposed along the south shore of Hebgen Lake. Photograph was taken near the point where the South Fork of the Madison River joins Hebgen Lake. Summer homes are concealed behind the trees shown along the upper and left edges of the photograph. Note the slump cracks all along the shore where the surficial debris moved toward the lake. Gallatin County, Montana. August 1959.
