Purpose

The Hawaiian Volcano Observatory conducts yearly campaign surveys on Mauna Loa and Kilauea volcanoes as part of the network of monitoring sites on the Island of Hawai`i. We conduct high-precision GPS surveys in order to asses ground motions that could be related to volcanic or tectonic activity island as part of our mandate to asses such hazards.
