Purpose
Idaho Geological Survey's Mineral Property Files collection (MPF) provide industry and other users with
assay results, geologic maps, and related data that would otherwise cost tens of thousands to millions
of dollars to reproduce. These data help drive new exploration projects and are highly utilized by the
mining industry as well as recreational prospectors. The files are also used by archeologists, historians,
environmental consultants, the legal community, and the general public. Further, they assist the real
estate industry, as well as state efforts by the Department of Environmental Quality and Department of
Lands to mitigate abandoned mine sites.
