Reelfoot Lake, in northwestern Tennessee and southwestern Kentucky, is home to a Federal wildlife refuge, a State wildlife-management area, and to a tourism industry that is based on hunting, fishing, birding, and the area’s unique cultural history. The DEM Geomorphology Toolbox enables users to derive geomorphic and hydrologic information from raster-based digital elevation models (DEMs). This toolbox contains the following tools: (1) Add Culverts, (2) Bank Slope, (3) Channel Depth, (4) Channel Slope, (5) Flow Network, (6) Rough Terrain, and (7) Slope-Area Index. Each tool includes detailed user instructions concerning data inputs, parameter settings, default settings, and output files. This dataset presents water withdrawal estimates, consumption estimates, and associated information for 1,122 water-using, utility scale thermoelectric power plants in the United States for 2015. The U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) developed models to estimate thermoelectric water use based on linked heat-and-water budgets, including thermodynamically plausible ranges of minimum and maximum withdrawal and consumption, to provide a consistent method for water-use estimation across the fleet of U.S. thermoelectric plants. This dataset combines three Federal datasets of thermoelectric, non-industrial, power plant water withdrawals and associated plant information for the United States in 2010, excluding Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands. Historically, thermoelectric water withdrawal has been estimated by the Department of Energy's Energy Information Administration (EIA) through surveys of plant operator-reported data, and the Department of Interior's U.S. Geological Survey's (USGS) 5-year water-use reports including data compiled from state water agencies, plant operators, and the EIA. This data release includes spatial datasets and metadata that represent hydrologic and geomorphic information derived by processing digital elevation models (DEMs) for the Pinson Mounds and Upper Sandy Creek study areas in Madison County, Tennessee, in 2015. The processing of DEMs was accomplished using custom-designed GIS tools in the DEM Geomorphology Toolbox. The DEM Geomorphology Toolbox and associated metadata are available for download at http://dx.doi.org/10.5066/F78C9TBQ. Also included in this data release are field notes and field photographs from the Pinson Mounds and Upper Sandy Creek study areas.
