This dataset represents roads in the Crown of the Continent Ecosystem (with a 50km buffer). Developed with the most recently available data and represents roads in ~2016. This dataset was developed by the Crown Managers Partnership, as part of a transboundary collaborative management initiative for the Crown of the Continent Ecosystem, based on commonly identified management priorities that are relevant at the landscape scale. The CMP is collaborative group of land managers, scientists, and stakeholder in the CCE. For more information on the CMP and its collaborators, programs, and projects please visit: http://crownmanagers.org/ This dataset has been produced by merging the "National Road Network (NRN) - AB,...
The Crown Managers Partnership (CMP) is developing collaborative management out-comes for three targeted indicators as part of our overall implementation of the Managing for Ecological Integrity Project2. We are strategically focusing on Aquatic Invasive Species Landscape-scale Change, and Climate Change Adaptation, working effectively across jurisdictions; sharing data and utilizing a common science template. Our overall goal is to achieve amplified management out-comes that address these shared conservation threats. Specifically, in the coming year we will advance our management strategies with respect to each of the stressors by; (i) Assimilating on-going work at multiple scales and implement strategic pilot...

This layer has been updated in 2016 This shapefile represents the watersheds present within the Crown of the Continent Ecosystem (CCE) boundary.(Note: a different CCE boundary layer was used at the time of creation, so the area amounts within the CCE may not be accurate)This dataset was developed by the Crown Managers Partnership, as part of a transboundary collaborative management initiative for the Crown of the Continent Ecosystem, based on commonly identified management priorities that are relevant at the landscape scale. Boundaries for Waterton Lakes National Park and Waterton-Glacier International Peace Park found at the centre of the Crown of the Continent Ecosystem
Presentation given at the 2014 North American Congress on Conservation Biology July 13-16, 2014 in Missoula Montana Abstract: The Crown of the Continent Ecosystem (CCE) is considered an ecologically intact ecosystem and one of the most diverse in North America, but like many natural areas, habitat fragmentation represents one of the area’s most pressing concerns. Species perceive and move through landscapes in different ways; understanding how these differences impact connectivity is vital to conservation efforts. Using resistant kernel connectivity modelling, this study explores connectivity in the CCE using a suite of hypothetical species to understand the synoptic patterns of connectivity in the CCE for multiple...

This dataset represents the railways within a 5km buffer of the Crown of the Continent Ecosytem. This dataset contains all freely available spatial information on railways within the Crown of the Continent. Due to the free nature of the data, it is of mixed quality and should not necessarily be considered an exhaustive representaion.

This geodatabase contains all freely available spatial information on pipelines in the Crown of the Continent area. Due to the free nature of the data, it is of mixed quality and should not be considered inclusive of all pipelines actually in the region.

Delineates outbreaks of the two focal species referred to as Mountain Pine Bettle Covers the CCE and 50km into the surrounding area from 2000 to 2015. This layer is a compilation from multiple sources, Bruce spanworm polygons were removed from Alberta data. Population fragmentation compromises population viability, reduces a species ability to respond toclimate change, and ultimately may reduce biodiversi ty. We studied the current state and potential causes offragmentation in grizzly bears over approximat ely 1,000,000 km of western Canada, the northern United States(US), and southeast Alaska. We compiled much of our data from projects undertaken with a variety of researchobjectives including population estimation and trend, landscape fragmentation, habitat selection, vital rates, andresponse to human development. Our prim ary analytical techniques stemmed from genetic analysis of 3,134 bears, supplemented with radiotelemetry data from 792 bears. We used 15 locus microsatellite...
