Most are dated but have general information that could still be useful today.
Annual reports by the Indiana State Geologist, from 1837 to 1994. The majority are hard bound full reports covering multiple disciplines under Indiana natural resources. Some copies only cover the Indiana Geological Survey.
Indiana law requires an inspection of each underground mine at least once per quarter by the Indiana Bureau of Mines. The Assistant Commissioner and Chief Mine Inspector of the Bureau of Mines, who are certified mine foremen, conducts these inspections. The Indiana Geological Survey has a library containing copies of these Reports dating from 1880 to 1991.

The library includes industry publications, annual reports, miscellaneous information pamphlets and books. The materials cover Indiana, the United States, or coal in-general. Much of the material is dated but could be used for historical purpose.
The Keystone Coal Industrial Manual published by McGraw-Hill provides critical information on where coal is mined, by whom, its qualities and quantities, modes of transportation and its major consumers throughout the United States. The Indiana Geological Survey has a library containing copies of these Manuals dating from 1918 to 2003.
