The introduction of exotic plant species into the western United States has caused substantial changes to rangeland disturbance regimes and ecosystem structure and function. For example, exotic annual grass (EAG) invasion in western rangelands has increased wildfire frequency, which greatly reduces rangeland ecosystem diversity and leads to single-species dominance in many areas. Rangeland monocultures do not provide optimal carbon sequestration and other environmental processes necessary to sustain historically normal ecosystem structure, including the ecological diversity needed to support sagebrush obligates like Greater Sagegrouse, pygmy rabbit, and pronghorn. Earthquake-triggered ground-failure, such as landsliding and liquefaction, can contribute significantly to losses, but our current ability to accurately include them in earthquake hazard analyses is limited. The development of robust and transportable models requires access to numerous inventories of ground failure triggered by earthquakes that span a broad range of terrains, shaking characteristics, and climates. We present an openly accessible, centralized earthquake-triggered ground-failure inventory repository in the form of a ScienceBase Community to provide open access to these data, and help accelerate progress. This is an experimental catalog of 3D image representations of scientific samples. Items within the collection document an individual sample such as a rock or mineral sample. Items use the open standard Binary glTF (GL Transmission Format; "GLB") for the 3D data along with a JSON scene file that is part of the Smithsonian's Voyager Explorer framework. These files are stored in the ScienceBase public cloud bucket to support the type of HTTP interaction needed by web-based browsing application.

This data release provides a monthly irrigation water use reanalysis for the period 2000-20 for all USGS Watershed Boundary Dataset of Subwatersheds (HUC12) in the conterminous United States (CONUS). Results include reference evapotranspiration (ETo), actual evapotranspiration (ETa), irrigated areas, consumptive use, and effective precipitation for each HUC12. State Wildlife Action Plans (SWAPs) are assessments of the wildlife and habitats in need of conservation action by each state. Congress mandated the states create SWAPs every ten years beginning in 2005 and are the way states receive funding from the Wildlife Conservation and Restoration Program and the State Wildlife Grants Program. Each SWAP contains a list of Species of Greatest Conservation Need (SGCN) as determined by that state. Remote-sensing technologies—such as video imagery, aerial photography, satellite imagery, structure-from-motion (SfM) photogrammetry, and lidar (laser-based surveying)— can be used to measure change along U.S. coastlines. The U.S. Geological Survey Denver Library maintains a collection of more than 400,000 photographs taken during geologic studies of the United States and its territories from 1868 to the present. These images provide a visual history of the discovery, development, and sciences of the United States and its Geological Survey. Some photographs have been used in USGS publications, but most have never been published. The Biogeographic Characterization Branch (BCB) has conducted a number of activities over the last several years that have resulted in databases of named, significant spatial features that are important as a foundation for other databases and in analytical processes. We've discovered that all of these activities involve some of the same type of work in quality controls and data prep and result in a simple, common schema for the fundamental data attributes.
