The Map of Mines and Quarries of Connecticut was compiled by Charles Smith of Wesleyan University (Middletown, Conn.) in 1972 at a 1:125,000 scale. Smith produced a set of 1:24,000 scale quadrangle maps depicting active and abandoned rock and mineral operations as compilation sheets for the larger map. Both the set of compilation sheets and the statewide map are on file in the offices of the Connecticut Geological and Natural History Survey. An explanatory text for the set includes a description of the mapping, the map legend, and a bibliography.
