This collection includes rock core, mainly from oil and as wells. Kansas Geological Survey manages an electronic database providing an index for the core samples.
thumbnail
This collection includes well cuttings extracted during drilling operations and is stored at the Wichita Well Sample Library. This collection represents grant work from 2013 to 2018, and has been superseded by a new collection.

This geological collection includes handwritten paper logs of oil anad gas wells, including strip logs. This collection is not yet inventoried. Please contact the Kansas Geological Survey to discuss access to the collection. This collection is being inventoried within the "Collection of petrophysical data from Kansas" available separately.

This collection includes detailed information about Kansas water rights, including location, reported use, allocation, etc. The water rights records are digitally available via the Water Information Management and Analysis System (WIMAS).
thumbnail
Collection includes potential field database of surface and airborne gravity and aeromagnetic measurements. This collection is not yet inventoried. Please contact the Kansas Geological Survey to discuss access to the collection.

This geologic collection includes measured sections of rock outcrops, measured stratigraphic sections, 800 measured sections on-line, and other geologic field notes.
thumbnail
This collection includes geologic maps, primarily for individual counties in Kansas. This collection is not yet inventoried. Please contact the Kansas Geological Survey to discuss access to the collection.

This collection includes water well completion forms. Approximately 254,000 water well compeltion forms are described in the main database managed by the Kansas Geological Survey. This collection represents grant work from 2014 to 2021.
Water rights in the State of Kansas are complex and dynamic entities that permit their owners the privilege of appropriating water for beneficial use. The amount of information collected on water rights is extensive and increases each year. The Kansas Department of Agriculture, Division of Water Resources (KDA-DWR), currently maintains an Oracle-based RDBMS called the Water Rights Information System (WRIS). The WRIS contains over 70 relational tables that store data on points of diversion (e.g. ground-water wells and surface water intakes), place of use, authorized quantity and rate allocations, historic reported water usage, and a host of other parameters. The ability to extract out information from the WRIS data...
