Two principal physiographic province of Mars are represented in the Aeolis quadrangle: (1) Elysium Planitia in the north is part of a broad planet-encircling belt of relatively young lowland plains, and (2) cratered highlands in the south consist of rough primitive terrain that extends to polar deposits around the southern ice cap (Condit and Soderblom, 1978; Scott and Carr, 1978). These two terrains are separated by an irregular discontinuous northwest-trending scarp that becomes less conspicuous and more segmented toward the east part of the map area. Two large channels transect the highlands; they widen northward downslope and have other features characteristic of terrestrial river beds. However, no fans or deltaic...

Since the 1970's, when the Mariner 9 spacecraft revealed the geologic diversity of Mars, the Chryse Planitia region has been noted for its immense outflow channels and chaotic terrain (McCauley and others, 1972; Sharp and Malin, 1975; Baker, 1982, chap. 3; Mars Channel Working Group, 1983). Various proposals for the origin of these features have been offered; most workers have favored a mechanism in which ground water or water-rich debris was expelled from beneath a frozen crust, leading to catastrophic debris flows or floods that may have contained significant amounts of ice (Baker and Milton, 1974; Carr, 1979; Nummedal and Prior, 1981; Lucchitta, 1982; MacKinnon and Tanaka, 1989). The channels originated on or...

This release includes aeromagnetic data collected via low-altitude helicopter flown over northeastern Washington State, centered over the town of Republic, Washington. The data were acquired between September 26, 2022 and August 21, 2023 by Precision Geosurveys, Inc. of Langley, British Columbia and processed by EDCON-PRJ, Inc. of Lakewood, Colorado, contracted by the U.S. Geological Survey and funded through the Earth Mapping Resources Initiative (EarthMRI). The survey includes gridded data from target altitude of 80-100 meters above ground level, subject to aircraft climb and descent limitations. Primary transverse flight lines were flown in the east-west direction and spaced 200 meters apart. Tie lines were flown...

These data were released prior to the October 1, 2016 effective date for the USGS’s policy dictating the review, approval, and release of scientific data as referenced in USGS Survey Manual Chapter 502.8 Fundamental Science Practices: Review and Approval of Scientific Data for Release. nlcd_UCRB_daymet_resolution.txt is an Esri ASCII grid representing land cover information for the Upper Colorado River Basin. The 2011 National Land Cover Database (NLCD) was used to characterize land cover in the UCRB study area.

The dataset documents the spatial and temporal variability of nutrients, phytoplankton, and related water quality parameters at high spatial resolution in the Sacramento-San Joaquin River Delta and Suisun Bay of California, USA. The dataset includes nitrate, ammonium, orthophosphate, dissolved organic carbon, temperature, conductivity, dissolved oxygen, and chlorophyll as well as information about phytoplankton community composition. Data were collected under different environmental/flow conditions in June, July, August, and October of 2020, and May, July, and October of 2021. The data release consists of a .xml document, and .txt and shapefile documents. Descriptions for each document and file are listed in the...

The Geminus quadrangle, centrally located in the northeast quadrant of the lunar near side, is dominated geologically by several multi-ringed circular basins outside the quadrangle and five relatively young, large craters mapped here. The terra and the older craters apparently are mantled by a nearly continuous blanket of ejecta from the Serenitatis, Crisium, Humboldtianum, and Imbrium basins, which lie, respectively, southwest, southeast, and west of the quadrangle. Escarpments and rings of blocks concentric with these basins were raised by faulting and tilting when the basins were formed, presumably by hyper-velocity impacts of asteroid-sized bodies. The light and dark plains in Lacus Somniorum and in the north...

The surface of the moon is heterogeneous. Surface materials are classed on the basis of telescopic observations into units each having a limited range of physical properties such as topography, visible under low-illumination and albedo, the reflectivity under full-Moon illumination. Such units are considered analogous to the rock-stratigraphic formations of terrestrial geology. By application of the principles of superposition and intersection, these rock units are arranged in order of relative age and grouped into time stratigraphic units. Following terrestrial contention, the major time-stratigraphic units are designated systems, and their subdivisions, series; corresponding to these units are periods and epochs...

The Hommel quadrangle is in the southeast highlands of the earthside hemisphere of the Moon. The major geologic units are smooth and ridged terra materials, plains-forming materials and crater materials Mare material is absent. In the absence of extensive stratigraphic datum horizons, the geologic units were tentatively correlated with the type areas of the lunar geologic systems (Shoemaker and Hackman, 1962; Wilhelms, 1970) by means of a graded sequence of crater morphologies.

We used 29 years of data on boreal chorus frogs at two sites to view life-history, estimate demographic parameters, assess weather-related covariates, and determine the magnitude of process variation in target parameters. Average estimates of survival probabilities were 0.51 (Standard error [SE]=0.04) and 0.43 (SE=0.04), and average estimates of recruitment probabilities were 0.64 (SE=0.07) and 0.44 (SE=0.04). Process variation accounted for greater than 76% of the total temporal variation in both parameters at one pond and in survival probability alone at the other.

This dataset contains the streams derived from the Digital Elevation Model (DEM) for the African continent from the Hydrological Derivatives for Modeling and Analysis (HDMA) database. The HDMA database provides comprehensive and consistent global coverage of raster and vector topographically derived layers, including raster layers of digital elevation model (DEM) data, flow direction, flow accumulation, slope, and compound topographic index (CTI); and vector layers of streams and catchment boundaries. The coverage of the data is global (-180º, 180º, -90º, 90º) with the underlying DEM being a hybrid of three datasets: HydroSHEDS (Hydrological data and maps based on SHuttle Elevation Derivatives at multiple Scales),...

The NABat sampling frame is a grid-based finite-area frame spanning Canada, the United States, and Mexico consisting of N total number of 10- by 10-km (100-km2) grid cell sample units for the continental United States, Canada, and Alaska and 5- by 5-km (25km2) for Hawaii and Puerto Rico. This grain size is biologically appropriate given the scale of movement of most bat species, which routinely travel many kilometers each night between roosts and foraging areas and along foraging routes. A Generalized Random-Tessellation Stratified (GRTS) Survey Design draw was added to the sample units from the raw sampling grids (https://doi.org/10.5066/P9M00P17). This dataset represents the final 2018 NABat Sampling grid with...
