This dataset consists of one table with sample collection locations and results of screening resident wildlife for Cryptosporidium and Giardia in the Alaskan Arctic, 2012-2017. We analyzed feces collected from polar bear, Pacific walrus, Arctic fox, and caribou with MERIFLUOR direct immunofluorescence assay to determine the presence of Cryptosporidium oocysts and Giardia cysts.

Observer-specific population indices for the USFWS Region Migratory Bird Management Arctic Coastal Plain study area. The survey consists of low-level aerial observations of waterfowl on a stratified strip transect design. The resulting data frame is several indices separated by observer and calculated using a standard ratio estimator. These data are output from the R package AKaerial and are also available within that package, see https://github.com/USFWS/AKaerial. The data used to produce these estimates contain known errors. Many but not all of these errors are corrected within the R package AKaerial. These data are presented for historical purposes only. See https://github.com/USFWS/ACP-Mapping and comments within...

This data release contains an international compilation of 656 peak discharge estimates of floods and runoff-generated debris flows. The data (“DimensionlessDischarge.csv” and “CrossSections.csv”) were obtained from the literature and measured in the study Cavagnaro and others (2024). The dataset also includes information about flow depth, flow type (flood or debris flow), flow cross-sectional area, drainage area, triggering rainfall intensity, and measured or estimated flow velocity. Discharge estimates made in a drainage recently burned by wildfire are distinguished from events in unburned areas. Events with less reliable information on rainfall intensity and/or flow type are distinguished from events with reliable...
The development and deployment of digital broadband seismographs provides the data required to rapidly assess earthquake size, determine source parameters and better characterize ground motions affecting earthquake hazard. The focus of regional moment tensor analysis is to estimate the moment magnitude, faulting parameters and source depth of earthquakes that are too small to be recorded teleseismically. Thus they have the potential of extending the earthquake catalog to magnitudes less than about M4-4.5.

Combined population indices of ducks and loons (YKD) and geese and swans (YKG) for the USFWS Region Migratory Bird Management Alaska Yukon-Kuskokwim Delta Aerial Survey study area in a combined csv format. The survey consists of low-level aerial observations of waterfowl on a stratified strip transect design. The resulting data frame is several indices combined over observers (or single observer in years where estimates were not combined) and calculated using a standard ratio estimator. These data are output from the R package AKaerial and are also available within that package, see https://github.com/USFWS/AKaerial.

These data are part of the Gulf Watch Alaska (GWA) long-term monitoring program, nearshore monitoring component. The dataset has one comma separated values (.csv) table with estimates of eelgrass (Zostera marina) percent cover. Eelgrass cover was estimated from sonar and video drop cameras deployed from boats following prescribed survey transects.

These data include down-looking images of round goby (Neogobius melanostomus) in either cobble or sand substrates within clear acrylic enclosures (0.86-meters (m) long, by 0.56-m wide, by 1.07-m high). Ten individual round goby were added to enclosures for imaging to ensure known abundances in each tank. Images were collected to evaluate the efficiency of image-based methodologies for estimating round goby abundance. All data were collected with Sony a6100 cameras in the wet lab at the USGS Great Lakes Science Center in Ann Arbor, Michigan.

This database contains documented observations of the relationship between biodiversity and ecosystem functioning in urban areas globally published between 2006 and June 2023. We systematically reviewed publications from Web of Science. To be included, studies needed to explicitly assess how at least one metric of biodiversity related to at least one ecosystem function and must have been conducted in an urban setting (as defined by the study author). We only included studies that explicitly assessed correlations between biodiversity and ecosystem functioning or tested cause/effect models or experiments. We extracted data related to basic study information and methodology, and the ecosystem function assessed, focal...

This geopackage contains the density strata that were used to create the Alaska Arctic Coastal Plain Aerial Breeding Pair Survey four-year rotating panel design. This file was derived from a mid-1980’s ArcInfo coverage for the North Slope Eider Survey that was produced through the visual interpretation of 1:250,000-scale LANDSAT imagery and the known nesting density waterfowl in the area.

The dataset has three comma separated values (.csv) file exported from a Microsoft Access relational database. The data consist of 1) counts of Nucella spp., Lottia spp., Lirabuccinum dirum, and Katharina tunicata, 2) a taxonomic classification table, and 3) a table of Gulf Watch Alaska contributors. The Odate cluster is named for the city of Odate in Akita Prefecture, northern Honshu, Japan. The cluster mostly consists of crustal events inland; several events in the east have depths greater than 30 km and may be associated with the subducting slab. The cluster includes several M5 events and all events are recorded to teleseismic distances. The distribution of stations for direct calibration is excellent. All events have depth control from near-source or local-distance readings and many of the larger events have consistent teleseismic depth phases. Number of events: 102 Calibration type: direct...

This collection contains the quality-control (QC) transcribed data from the Arctic Coastal Plain Aerial Breeding Pair Survey. These QC data were produced from the “raw” data using the R Package “AKaerial.” The raw data were evaluated against the current data standards in the ‘AKaerial data dictionary’ and saved to new QC data files with associated log files that document any changes that were made. The data files in this collection were named using the following naming convention: ACP_YYYY_QCObs_OOOO, where ACP=Arctic Coastal Plain, YYYY=Year, QCObs=Quality control observations, and OOOO=observer’s first initial and last name. These data contain known errors. These data should not be used except as raw input for...

This multi-layer GeoPackage contains the Alaska Arctic Coastal Plain Aerial Breeding Pair Survey design transects from 2007 to present. The original transects were created as shapefiles and imported to this SQLite database. Transects were saved as individual polylines named according to the year they were created (e.g., “main.ACP_2007_Trans,” “main.ACP_2008_Trans,” “main.ACP_2009_Trans,” etc.). These aerial transects were developed systematically from randomly-selected start points and created along constant lines of latitude. The inter-transect spacing in the low, medium, high, and very-high density strata varies so that areas with higher waterfowl density are surveyed more intensively. The current four-year rotating...

These data describe observations of frost and related features in alcoves and slopes near Martian gully landforms. The base data are images from the High Resolution Imaging Science Experiment (HiRISE) acquired prior to Ls=0 of Mars Year 33 (June 18, 2015).

This data release contains observation data, design transects, design strata, analysis estimates output, and associated metadata from the Alaska Arctic Coastal Plain Aerial Breeding Pair Survey. The Alaska Arctic Coastal Plain Aerial Breeding Pair Survey provides data on distribution, abundance, and trend of 33 bird species that nest in northern Alaska. The survey has been conducted in its current form annually since 2007 with the exception of years 2020 and 2021. Methods generally follow the standard operating procedures for the Waterfowl Breeding Population and Habitat Survey. Primary uses of the survey data are to evaluate recovery status of Spectacled Eider (Somateria fischeri) and Steller’s Eider (Polysticta...

Provided here is a globally distributed catalog of earthquakes and nuclear explosions with calibrated hypocenters, referred to as the Global Catalog of Calibrated Earthquake Locations or GCCEL. This dataset contains more than 24,485 earthquakes in 353 well distributed clusters. Currently there are more than 4M arrival times with the majority being the Pg, Pn, P, Sg, Sn and S phases. The term “calibrated” refers to the property that the hypocenters are minimally biased by unknown Earth structure and that the uncertainties are meaningful. Uncertainties are calculated using empirically determined variability of the arrival time data itself, specific to each calibrated cluster of hypocenters. The data are carefully...
