This dataset includes pesticides and pesticide transformation products in 15 tributaries of the Great Lakes. Pesticides were monitored using polar organic chemical integrative samplers (POCIS) to estimate concentrations in water following standard protocols (Alvarez, 2010) in June and July 2016. POCIS extracts were analyzed for 225 chemicals (USGS National Water Quality Laboratory schedule 5437, Sandstrom and others, 2016), for which 129 chemicals also have POCIS uptake rates, allowing calculations of time-weighted mean concentration over the approximately 30 day deployment (Alvarez and others, 2008). The Stream Conditions of Chester County Biological Monitoring Network was established by the U.S. Geological Survey and the Chester County Water Resources Authority in 1969. Benthic-macroinvertebrate, habitat, and stream chemistry data were collected annually from 1998-2021 at 18 fixed location sites. Additionally, nine flexible location sites were selected and sampled annually from 1998-2021. Some of the flexible location sites were sampled more than once over the study period. The dataset consists of geochemical and isotopic data from fine-grained sediments and glendonite crystals collected at Carter Creek on the North Slope of Alaska. Total Organic Carbon (TOC) values in the measured section were found to range between 0.5 and 3.5%, with a shift towards lower values in the uppermost 5 m of the section. Stable isotopes (13C) in organic matter were relatively stable throughout the section, ranging between -25.5 and -26, with a slight 0.3 per mil positive shift within this range approximately 57 m from the base of the section. Glendonites themselves were analyzed for δ13Ccarb and δ18Ocarb, with δ18O values relatively consistent between -0.22 and +1.28, and a much wider range of δ13C values...

Biological indicators including morphometric (length, weight), age, sex and health indicators including organismal (health assessment index, condition factor), organ (hepatosomatic index, gonadosomatic index), cellular (intersex, parasite density, macrophage aggregate density), subcellular (plasma vitellogenin, estradiol, testosterone, 11-keto testosterone) and molecular (hepatic transcript abundance) were measured in smallmouth bass from tributaries in the Chesapeake Bay watershed. Total mercury was measured in these fish and correlations between mercury and biological indicators were assessed.
We have developed autonomous and high precision sensor arrays to monitor growth of individual native plants along with local environmental conditions, coupled with wireless data loggers that can provide real-time data available to managers and the wider public. We deployed an experimental set of these sensors, integrated with a weather station, 2 webcams, and a live web portal (construction in progress) to showcase how this real time information can be useful to relevant managers while also raising awareness of the challenges of climate change adaptation and Hawaiian plant conservation in general. This dataset includes per-and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) and pharmaceuticals monitored at 62 sampling sites in tributaries of the Laurentian Great Lakes. Chemicals were evaluated in a sediment sample (PFAS only) and water concentrations were estimated using polar organic chemical integrative samplers (POCIS). Sediment samples were collected from the 62 sites in June and July 2018, which were analyzed for 23 PFAS compounds using liquid chromatography tandem mass spectrometry (LC/MS/MS). In 2019 the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) quantitively assessed the potential for undiscovered, technically recoverable continuous (unconventional) oil and gas resources in the Niobrara interval of the Cody Shale in the Bighorn Basin Province (Finn and others, 2019). Leading up to the assessment, in 2017, the USGS collected samples from the Niobrara and underlying Sage Breaks intervals (Finn, 2019) to better characterize the source rock potential of the Niobrara interval. The Delaware River Basin Restoration Program implements conservation, stewardship, and enhancement projects in four areas: conserving and restoring fish and wildlife habitat; improving and sustaining water quality; upgrading water management, and reducing flood damage; enhancing recreational opportunities and public access.Since 2018, the Program has awarded $40.4 million to 159 projects, which generated $59.7 million in match, for a total conservation impact of $100.1 million. In May of 2020, the U.S. Geological Survey responded to the M6.5 Monte Cristo Range Earthquake, occurring near Tonopah, Nevada: https://www.usgs.gov/news/featured-story/m65-monte-cristo-range-earthquake. 60 DTCC SmartSolo 3-component nodal seismograph systems ("nodes") were deployed in the area and continuously recorded seismic data for about a month. Nodes were deployed in various arrays including a square grid, circular grid, linear array, and near 2 permanent strong-motion instruments. Sand beaches are dynamic, making it difficult to accurately predict habitat loss from sea level rise (SLR). We mapped sand beach habitat based on two datasets - a remotely sensed land cover and hand-digitized aerial imagery collected concurrently with digital elevation data. Data include the predicted area of beach habitat still above water (units = number of pixels) from SLR per decade, for 3 SLR scenarios, based on two mapping methods, for 12 barrier island beaches and 4 control islands off Florida's Gulf Coast.

These data consist of juvenile lake trout biological and diet information collected from USGS bottom trawl, beam trawl, and gillnet surveys in Lake Michigan from 2015-2017 and 2019-2022. All prey were identified, enumerated and weighed. Only fish prey and Mysis had lengths measured.

Hunter information varies by administrative flyway (Mississippi and Central), whereas duck population abundance is summarized for both the Prairie Pothole Region and the continent. Duck information for the Prairie Pothole Region is for the U.S. portion only (Strata 41-49 of the May waterfowl survey) and for 12 duck species, mallard, American wigeon, blue-winged teal, canvasback, gadwall, lesser and greater scaup, green-winged teal, northern pintail, northern shoveler, redhead, ring-necked duck, and ruddy duck.

Soil data were collected from catchments of USGS edge-of-field (EOF) monitoring sites in Great Lakes Restoration Initiative (GLRI) priority watersheds. As part of this release, soil data from 2016 through 2019 are provided from 14 sites spanning 5 Great Lake States (Wisconsin, Michigan, Ohio, Indiana, and New York).
