This dataset provides estimated Remote Sensing Streamflow (RSQ) data at selected river reaches in Alaska. Reach-specific relations between satellite-derived water-surface elevation data and dynamic surface water extent data were used with a modified form of the Manning's streamflow equation to estimate streamflows. The streamflow estimates were used to create rating tables that define the relation between discharge and satellite-observed water-surface elevation. The streamflow estimates in the gage_data.csv files are derived from these rating tables, interpolated using a polynomial regression equation. Data are organized in child items named for each river reach. Reach-specific details are provided in a README file...

This dataset provides estimated Remote Sensing Streamflow (RSQ) data on a reach along the Yukon River 5 miles downstream of Koyukuk, Alaska. Reach-specific relations between satellite-derived water-surface elevation data and dynamic surface water extent data were used with a modified form of the Manning's streamflow equation to estimate streamflows. Reach-specific details are provided in a README PDF document included with this data release.

These data are part of the Gulf Watch Alaska (GWA) long term monitoring program, nearshore component and a seasonal diet study in Kenai Fjords National Park. This dataset consists of observations made of foraging sea otters (Enhydra lutris). Observers used Questar field model spotting scopes and binoculars to identify prey. Date, local time, dive duration, success, prey type, prey size, prey number, handling time and surface time were all recorded. Sites are in Alaska and include locations in Kachemak Bay, Katmai National Park and Preserve, Kenai Fjords National Park and Prince William Sound. The data in this file were collected from 2012—2024. Version History: First release: March 2017 Revised: November 2024 (ver....

These data are part of the Gulf Watch Alaska (GWA) long term monitoring program, nearshore monitoring component. Specifically, these data describe site locations for rocky intertidal, mussel sampling, soft sediment bivalve sampling, and eelgrass bed sampling in the northern Gulf of Alaska within the GWA program. The dataset consists of two comma separated files exported from a Microsoft Excel workbook. The data consists of 1. rocky intertidal, mussel sampling, and soft sediment site location information, and 2. eelgrass bed locations. Sampling will be conducted in Katmai National Park and Preserve (KATM), Kenai Fjords National Park (KEFJ), Prince William Sound (PWS) and to a lesser extent on the Lake Clark National...

The North Pacific Pelagic Seabird Database (NPPSD) is maintained by the USGS Alaska Science Center and includes survey transect data designed and conducted by numerous partners primarily to census seabirds at sea. The data provided here relate to observations of marine birds and mammals observed during at-sea surveys throughout the North Pacific including the Arctic Ocean, Beaufort Sea, Chukchi Sea, Bering Sea, Sea of Okhotsk, and Barents Sea. This data release contains 5 tables including observation data, survey locations, taxonomic designations of observed birds and mammals, summary information about each dataset added to the database, and a table showing changes made to the database from version 4.0 to 4.1. ...

Boreal Partners in Flight developed the Alaska Landbird Monitoring Survey (ALMS) primarily to monitor breeding populations of landbirds in the vast off-road areas of Alaska in conjunction with data collected from the roadside North American Breeding Bird Survey (BBS). ALMS is a collaborative program in which agencies and other entities conduct standardized surveys of breeding birds and their habitats on the lands they manage and then provide the data to the U.S. Geological Survey Alaska Science Center for analysis and archiving. The ALMS monitoring program comprises a set of survey blocks that have been selected in a stratified-random design primarily across state and Federal natural resource lands in Alaska with...
