This data release is the update of the U.S. Geological Survey - ScienceBase data release by Bera and Over (2018), with the data processed through September 30, 2018. The primary data for water year 2018 (a water year is the 12-month period, October 1 through September 30, designated by the calendar year in which it ends) were downloaded from the Argonne National Laboratory (ANL) (Argonne National Laboratory, 2018) and processed following the guidelines documented in Over and others (2010). Daily potential evapotranspiration (PET) is computed from average daily air temperature, average daily dewpoint temperature, daily total wind speed, and daily total solar radiation, and disaggregated to hourly PET by using the...

Model Archive Summary (MAS), "382829121351801_LIS_ExtendedMAS.docx", describing the development of a continuous, 15-minute suspended-sediment concentration (SSC) time series regression model for the site: Toe Drain Near Babel Slough Near Freeport, California (U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) site #382829121351801). The SSC time series is computed from instream turbidity data that is managed by the California Department of Water Resources (CDWR) using a YSI 6-series multi-parameter water quality sonde. Complete methods for turbidity data collection and model development are described in the attached methods document (MAS).

This U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) data release contains estimated daily mean streamflow for Broadstreet Hollow Brook at Highway 28 at Allaben NY (USGS station ID 01362232) and Bushnellsville Creek at State Highway 42 at Shandaken NY (USGS station ID 0136219702) based on methods in Gazoorian (2015) and available discharge data from West Kill near West Kill NY (USGS station ID 01349810). Instantaneous streamflow and estimated instantaneous suspended-sediment loads for Hollow Tree Brook at State Highway 214 at Lanesville NY (USGS station ID 01362345) were derived from streamflow data from Hollow Tree Brook at Lanesville (01362342), methods in Lumia and others (2006) and Rasmussen and others (2009), and available...

After wildfires occurred in the western United States during 2020, in-stream water quality monitors and automatic samplers were deployed in four burned watersheds and one unburned watershed. In-stream water temperature, turbidity, and fluorescent dissolved organic matter (fDOM) were measured at high frequency, and the fDOM data were corrected for temperature and turbidity effects. Automatic samplers were triggered during storm events, which captured turbid conditions in the wildfire affected streams. Laboratory experiments with storm event samples informed site-specific turbidity correction coefficients for fDOM data. An iterative solver approach also was developed to verify turbidity correction coefficients. This...

This digital GIS dataset and accompanying nonspatial files synthesize model outputs from a regional-scale volumetric 3-D geologic model that portrays the generalized subsurface geology of the Powder River Basin and Williston Basin regions from a wide variety of input data sources. The study area includes the Hartville Uplift, Laramie Range, Bighorn Mountains, Powder River Basin, and Williston Basin. The model data released here consist of the stratigraphic contact elevation of major Phanerozoic sedimentary units that broadly define the geometry of the subsurface, the elevation of Tertiary intrusive and Precambrian basement rocks, and point data that illustrate an estimation of the three-dimensional geometry of fault...

This data release consists of multi-band 30-meter x 30-meter pixel rasters of estimated population and domestic self-supplied water withdrawals in Rhode Island between July 2014 and June 2021. Population raster data were generated using a national data product of 2010 population spatially distributed across land cover data and U.S. Census Bureau data of population growth estimates to adjust populations for each year 2014-2021. Estimates for changes in population between winter and summer months are also included to generate seasonal population estimates. The coefficients used to describe these variations in populations for each U.S. Census Bureau block group in Rhode Island are included in this data release. Estimated...

This imagery dataset consists of 3-meter resolution, lidar-derived imagery of the Kingwood 30 x 60 minute quadrangle in West Virginia and Maryland. The source data used to construct this imagery consists of 1-meter lidar-derived digital elevation models (DEMs). The lidar source data were compiled from different acquisitions published between 2020 and 2023. The data were processed using geographic information systems (GIS) software. The data is projected in WGS 1984. This representation illustrates the terrain as a hillshade with contrast adjusted to highlight local relief according to a topographic position index (TPI) calculation.

The U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) deployed passive samplers at surface-water and groundwater sites on the Hawaiian Islands of Kauaʻi, Oʻahu, Maui, and Hawaiʻi for several weeks each during 2015–19. The passive samplers were deployed to assess the occurrence of pesticides and pesticide degradates, herein referred to as pesticides, in water at the sites. Some of the passive samplers were also used to assess the occurrence of additional organic contaminants and wastewater indicators in water at the sites. This dataset includes files with chemical results for the passive samplers. The chemical results include masses of pesticides that accumulated in the passive samplers and concentration values that represent the average...

The sagebrush ecosystem spans over 175 million acres in the western United States, and is biologically, culturally, and economically significant to the country. Many disturbances including prolonged drought, pinyon-juniper encroachment, and cycles of invasive grasses and wildfire, pose significant threats to the resilience of the sagebrush biome. To conserve the sagebrush biome and promote community and economic sustainability, the Department of the Interior’s bureaus and offices are working together with many public and private partners to implement a “defend and grow the core” approach to conserve remaining intact sagebrush habitat and ecosystem functions, as well as restore other habitat types which are important...

This dataset contains projections of shoreline change and uncertainty bands across California for future scenarios of sea-level rise (SLR). Projections were made using the Coastal Storm Modeling System - Coastal One-line Assimilated Simulation Tool (CoSMoS-COAST), a numerical model run in an ensemble forced with global-to-local nested wave models and assimilated with satellite-derived shoreline (SDS) observations across the state. Scenarios include 25, 50, 75, 100, 125, 150, 175, 200, 250, 300 and 500 centimeters (cm) of SLR by the year 2100. Output for SLR of 0 cm is also included, reflective of conditions in 2000.

This data release contains estimated monthly point-source nutrient loads for 97 municipal wastewater treatment plants, 20 industrial facilities, and 46 fish hatcheries and other aquaculture facilities that discharge within the watersheds draining to Puget Sound and the Strait of Juan de Fuca in Washington, or discharge directly to those water bodies. The data, which cover the years 2005 through 2020, were used as input to a set of seasonal SPARROW total nitrogen and total phosphorus SPARROW models that were used to assess nutrient loadings to Puget Sound.

This dataset contains pesticide-concentration values and other information for water samples and quality-control samples collected at surface-water sites on the Hawaiian Islands of Kauaʻi, Oʻahu, Maui, and Hawaiʻi between November 2016 and June 2019. The water water samples and quality-control samples were collected for a study that assessed pesticides in surface water in Hawaiʻi, as described in a U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) report available at https://doi.org/10.3133/sir20245071. The USGS National Water Quality Laboratory analyzed the water samples for pesticides that consisted of active ingredients in pesticide products and degradates of active ingredients in pesticide products. This dataset has three comma-separated...
