Managing water resources in semiarid watersheds is challenging because of limited water supply and uncertain impacts of future climate conditions on groundwater resources. This paper examines the impact of future climate changes on the urban Yucaipa Valley watershed in southern California using an integrated hydrological model referred to herein as the Yucaipa model. Coupled Groundwater and Surface-water FLOW (GSFLOW) modeling software was used to simulate the nonlinear relationships between climate trends and precipitation partitioning into evapotranspiration (ET), runoff, and subsurface storage. Four global climate models (also known as general circulation models or GCMs), each with two greenhouse-gas (GHG) scenarios:...

The Alaska Trumpeter Swan Survey was an aerial survey conducted by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, Division of Migratory Bird Management, Alaska Region (MBM-AK) and partners to monitor the status of trumpeter swans (Cygnus buccinator) in Alaska. It was first conducted in 1968 and then repeated at five-year intervals from 1975 through 2015. The objectives of the survey were to estimate the abundance, distribution (1968–2005 only), and productivity of trumpeter swans in late summer, when the swans were dispersed on breeding territories and cygnets were large enough to be easily counted from the air. Estimates were obtained for the abundance of white swans (swans >1 year old), cygnets, and total swans, as well...

This dynamic data release presents an aquatic reflectance product with 20-meter spatial resolution derived from Sentinel-2 satellite imagery for the conterminous United States using the Atmospheric Correction for OLI “lite” (ACOLITE). Aquatic reflectance, noted Rhow in ACOLITE documentation, is defined here as unitless water-leaving radiance reflectance and represents the ratio of water-leaving radiance (units of watts per square meter per steradian per nanometer) to downwelling irradiance (units of watts per square meter per nanometer) multiplied by π. This is also known as remote sensing reflectance (units of per steradian) multiplied by π. These data are intended for use in remote sensing of water color and differ...

This dataset consists of 2-dimensional (2D) XBeach model input files used for Coastal Storm Modeling System (CoSMoS) tier 3 simulations. These sub-regional simulations cover portions of the Northern California open-coast region; boundary conditions are derived from sub-regional tier 2 simulations. These simulations are run for several storm events (covering a range of no storm, 1-year, 20-year, and 100-year coastal storm conditions) and sea-level rise (SLR) scenarios.

Biogeochemical processes are key drivers of chemical solubility and mobilization. Understanding these processes will lead to improved predictive capabilities and may aid with watershed management decisions. This data release presents results from the Boulder Creek, Colorado watershed, including analyses of water and sediment. From April to August 2019, water samples were collected weekly at 2 sites along Boulder Creek and 4 tributary sites draining into Boulder Creek. In August 2022, water samples were collected every 2 hours for 34 hours at 2 sites on Boulder Creek (upstream and downstream of the city of Boulder). Samples for both studies were analyzed for major cations and anions, dissolved organic carbon, UV...

This is the R code that was implemented to tidy the original 1994 MBM-AK SEAK bird density dataset (“1994_SEAK_BirdDensities.csv”), producing the final dataset “1994_SEAK_BirdDensities_tidy.csv”. In doing so, the original dataset was reshaped so that all species and bird densities were located in two distinct columns.

This is a collection of the original Paradox files produced during the 1994 MBM-AK SEAK survey. Paradox is an outdated relational database program that is now obsolete. Therefore, most of the individual files and sidecar files contained within this collection cannot be further described because we are not able to view them at this time. Because Borland (owner of Paradox) never defined file extensions for Paradox, the following is a list of file extensions found within this collection and for those with commonly-recognized definitions, those are included as well: .DB (Paradox table), .SSL(script source), .RSL (report source), .COL, .N00, .N01, TVF (table view settings for dBASE table), .FAM (listing of related files),...
