This service definition contains landscape factors representing human disturbances summarized to local and network catchments of river reaches for the state of Arizona. This dataset is the result of clipping the feature class 'NFHAP 2010 HCI Scores and Human Disturbance Data for the Conterminous United States linked to NHDPLUSV1.gdb' to the state boundary of Arizona. Landscape factors include land uses, population density, roads, dams, mines, and point-source pollution sites. The source datasets that were compiled and attributed to catchments were identified as being: (1) meaningful for assessing fish habitat; (2) consistent across the entire study area in the way that they were assembled; (3) representative of...

Provided here is a globally distributed catalog of earthquakes and nuclear explosions with calibrated hypocenters, referred to as the Global Catalog of Calibrated Earthquake Locations or GCCEL. This dataset contains more than 23,736 earthquakes in 344 well distributed clusters. Currently there are more than 4M arrival times with the majority being the Pg, Pn, P, Sg, Sn and S phases. The term “calibrated” refers to the property that the hypocenters are minimally biased by unknown Earth structure and that the uncertainties are meaningful. Uncertainties are calculated using empirically determined variability of the arrival time data itself, specific to each calibrated cluster of hypocenters. The data are carefully...

This archived Paleoclimatology Study is available from the NOAA National Centers for Environmental Information (NCEI), under the World Data Service (WDS) for Paleoclimatology. The associated NCEI study type is Climate Reconstruction. The data include parameters of climate reconstructions|instrumental|tree ring with a geographic location of North America. The time period coverage is from 1150 to -65 in calendar years before present (BP). See metadata information for parameter and study location details. Please cite this study when using the data.

As a result of climate change, a warmer and drier climate has led to an increase in wildfire. Severe wildfires can cause whitebark pine mortality during all life stages, thus we used data on wildfire severity throughout the Crown landscape to predict where future severe fires will occur. Spatial data on wildfire severity was compiled by the CMP Hi5 Working Group technical team and ranked using a consistent categorical system based on each state/province’s assigned severity. Areas that had moderate-to-severe wildfires in the past 30 years were considered low risk.

Site, field, and soil data collected from 14 sites along a chronosequence of wetland submergence on 15 – 17 October 2019 in a Louisiana salt marsh in Barataria Basin, part of the Mississippi River Deltaic Plain, along the northern Gulf of Mexico coast.

Lifespan of salt marshes in New York are calculated using conceptual marsh units defined by Defne and Ganju (2018) and Welk and others (2019, 2020a, 2020b, 2020c). The lifespan calculation is based on estimated sediment supply and sea-level rise (SLR) predictions after Ganju and others (2020). Sea level predictions are local estimates which correspond to the 0.3, 0.5, and 1.0 meter increase in Global Mean Sea Level (GMSL) scenarios by 2100 from Sweet and others (2022). The U.S. Geological Survey has been expanding national assessment of coastal change hazards and forecast products to coastal wetlands with the intent of providing Federal, State, and local managers with tools to estimate the vulnerability and ecosystem...

Hydroacoustic estimates of fish density are used for fisheries management in central Lake Erie. Hydroacoustic data were collected along 8, randomly-selected, 5-kilometer transects and three transects between the US shore and the international border in central Lake Erie in July 2020. Software-generated raw variables used for calculating estimates of hydroacoustic fish densities are presented here. These data are related to a longer-term data set from 2010-2019.

Fish catch and effort data for three species caught in gill nets and trap nets between 1988 and 2019 as part of Minnesota Department of Natural Resources (MNDNR) fisheries surveys conducted during the summer and early fall are included from over 1,300 Minnesota lakes. The three fish species included are: bluegill (Lepomis marochirus) a warm-water adapted species, yellow perch (Perca flavescens) a cool-water adapted species, and cisco (Coregonus artedi) a cold-water adapted species. Additional data concerning lake characteristics and surrounding land cover were also included. Mean July lake surface temperature was calculated using simulated daily water temperatures. Watershed land use including agricultural, barren,...
The Climate Adaptation Science Centers have conducted numerous training and skills development activities to support tribal and indigenous partners as they seek to use scientific information and techniques to understand and respond to climate change impacts. Because these activities were generated in different CASC regions, with different tribal / indigenous stakeholders, climate change contexts, and training needs, and because the CASC network encourages innovation, these activities were not developed or implemented in a nationally consistent format. This project seeks to identify relevant activities, gather related materials and links that might benefit others seeking to implement similar activities, provide a...

As a result of climate change, a warmer and drier climate has led to an increase in wildfire severity. Severe wildfires can cause whitebark pine mortality during all life stages. Conversely, low intensity fires may enhance whitebark pine persistence by removing competing species that are less fire tolerant. However, low intensity fires have been suppressed because of an increase in recreational development and urbanization. Thus, a decline in low intensity fires has reduced whitebark pine persistence by increasing species encroachment while simultaneously, increases in wildfire severity are increasing whitebark pine mortality

This dataset was created to assess the status of Lahontan cutthroat trout (*Oncorhynchus clarkii henshawi*) habitat. Surveys were conducted within occupied Lahontan cutthroat trout habitat, as designated by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service. Data represent reach-based surveys conducted in accordance with the Lahontan cutthroat trout habitat status assessment (LCTHSA) protocol (USGS). LCTHSA uses a probabalistic sampling design (i.e., Generalized Random Tessellation Stratified), standardized collection of habitat attributes, electronic data capture and management, and integration with remote sensing and geospatially-derived data products. Data were collected and managed by the U.S. Geological Survey and U.S. Fish...

These data represent net ecosystem exchange of CH4 and CO2 collected using eddy covariance over various time frames. Data were collected from a brackish marsh at Pointe-aux-Chenes State Wildlife Management Area and a tidally influenced freshwater marsh at Salvador State Wildlife Management Area. Both sites were located within the coastal zone of Louisiana, USA.

This file provides a table of all the of Species of Greatest Conservation Need listed in the North Central states' (MT, WY, CO, ND, SD, NE, and KS) State Wildlife Action Plans as of summer 2020. Species are organized by the number of states which listed them as Species of Greatest Conservation Need, and then by scientific name. Federal status is also provided for each species. This table is adapted from an unpublished species list compiled by the North Central Climate Adaptation Science Center.

Hydroacoustic estimates of fish density are used for fisheries management in central Lake Erie. Hydroacoustic data were collected along 10, randomly-selected, 5-kilometer transects and two cross-basin transects between the US and Canadian shorelines in central Lake Erie during July 2021. Software-generated raw variables were used for calculating estimates of hydroacoustic fish densities presented here in tabular form. These data are related to a longer-term data set from 2010-2019, and a data set from 2020.
