This data set represents the extent, approximate location and type of wetlands and deepwater habitats in the United States and its Territories. These data delineate the areal extent of wetlands and surface waters as defined by Cowardin et al. (1979). Certain wetland habitats are excluded from the National mapping program because of the limitations of aerial imagery as the primary data source used to detect wetlands. The U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) developed a regression model for estimating mean August baseflow per square mile of drainage area in cooperation with National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) to help resource managers assess relative amounts of baseflow in streams with Maine Atlantic Salmon habitat (Lombard and others, 2021). The model was applied to each reach of a stream network derived from select National Hydrography Dataset Plus High-Resolution (NHDPlusHR) data in the State of Maine south of 46º 21′55″ N latitude. Abstract The isotopic composition of Pb in fugitive dust suspended by a vehicle from 13 unsurfaced roads in Missouri was measured to identify the source of Pb within an established long-term mining area. A three end member model using 207Pb/206Pb and concentration as tracers resulted in fugitive dust samples plotting in the mixing field of well characterized heterogeneous end members. End members selected for this investigation include the 207Pb/206Pb for 1) a Pb-mixture representing mine tailings, 2) aerosol Pb impacted soils within close proximity to the Buick secondary recycling smelter, and 3) an average of soils, rock cores and drill cuttings representing the background characteristics. Data set contains depth and velocity grids centerpoints generated from hydrodynamic model (SRH-2D) simulations run for a range of discharges. Date range corresponds to month(s) that bathymetric survey was performed. Three study reaches were considered in this analysis: the Fairview reach of the Yellowstone River, MT, the Miami and Lisbon-Jameson reaches of the Lower Missouir River. This mapping documents the changes in extent and condition of vernal pool habitat in the Great Valley between 2005 and 2012. "Vernal pool habitat" is defined as vernal pools and the surrounding upland (typically grassland) habitat matrix. The 2005 basemap was created by using double-blind mapping protocol and included 21.4 million acres in and surrounding the Sacramento and San Joaquin valleys (Witham et al 2013). About 280 kilometers of multichannel (common-depth-point) seismic reflection profiles were obtained in the central Mississippi River Valley by Geophysical Service Inc. and Western Geophysical Company under contracts with the U.S. Geological Survey. The specific area of the profiles is southeastern Missouri, northeastern Arkansas, and northwestern Tennessee. Geologically, the area is located in the northern part of the Mississippi Embayment.
This dataset contains field measurements of direct groundwater seepage by using half-barrel style seepage meters permanently installed in a lake-bottom permeable reactive barrier (PRB) at Ashumet Pond, Falmouth, MA. The meters are a modified version of a standard half-barrel seepage meter. Each meter consists of a 208-L polyethylene, corrosion-inhibiting drum cut to a length of 0.8 m and fitted with a removable 0.56-m-diameter lid. A 1.3-cm-diameter hole was drilled into each lid to allow outflow or inflow to be measured. A train derailment occurred in Marana, Arizona, on July 10, 2018. Runoff from a severe thunderstorm was flowing over the tracks at the time and may have contributed to the derailment. At the request of the Pima County Regional Flood Control District, USGS collected high-water marks for the flood event upstream from the derailment area.
