PROBLEM The valley‐fill aquifer in the lower Fall Creek valley (designated as aquifer 4, fig. 1), within the Towns of Dryden and Groton, was mapped by Miller (2000) and identified as one of 17 unconsolidated aquifers in Tompkins County that need to be studied in more detail. The east end of the valley (near the Tompkins and Cortland County border) is on the backside of a large morainal plug, which is part of the Valley Heads Moraine. A large system of springs discharge from the backside of the moraine and forms part of the headwaters to Fall Creek. The valley‐fill aquifer thins and pinches out to the west (figs. 1 and 2)— where the valley is floored by bedrock and becomes a “hanging valley” to Cayuga Lake trough....

U. S. Geological Survey (USGS) scientists completed a data collection campaign from the 25th of April to the 10th of June in 2022, using various methods to record geomorphic and habitat indicators throughout 30 streams on the Delmarva Peninsula. Field methods included GNSS surveys, gravelometer-based pebble count readings, visual assessments, and riparian analyses. This metadata record contains all raw observations from the campaign as well as numerous summary metrics to be used in model development. Those "model-ready" data can be found in Delmarva_Model_Deliverable.csv in the parent item, while the two child items containing raw in-channel observations and raw survey data. Attached to this release is a data dictionary...

These orthophotos and digital surface model (DSM) were derived from low-altitude (approximately 92-m above ground surface) images collected from Unmanned Aerial System (UAS) flights over edge-of-field sites that are part of U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) Great Lakes Restoration Initiative (GLRI) monitoring. The objective of this UAS photogrammetry data collection was to provide information on the tile-drain network in individual fields with the goal of understanding already observed patterns in runoff amount and water quality from these sites. A 3DR Solo quadcopter served as the flight vehicle, flights were pre-planned using Mission Planner, and flights were flown using Tower. Geospatial data were originally in WGS84...

The decline of the iconic monarch butterfly in North America has motivated research on the impacts of land use and land cover (LULC) change and climate variability on monarch habitat and population dynamics. We investigated spring and fall trends in LULC, milkweed and nectar resources over a 20-year period, and ~30 years of climate variables in Mexico and Texas, a key region supporting spring and fall migration during monarchs annual life cycle. We estimated a 2.9% decline in milkweed in Texas, but little to no change in Mexico. Fall and spring nectar resources declined <1% in both countries. Vegetation greenness increased in both the fall and spring in Mexico while the other climate variables, for both countries,...

This USGS data release contains 7Q10 and 30Q10 [lowest annual 7-day and 30-day average streamflow that occurs (on average) once every 10 years] statistics at 292 USGS streamgages in or adjacent to New York State excluding Long Island. all_sites_wstats.csv - includes 7Q10 and 30Q10 values for all sites and includes information on results from the trend analysis and which sites have daily exceedance probability values available. site_regulated_7day_exc_perc#.csv and site_regulated_30day_exc_perc#.csv files include daily exceedance probability values for all altered sites that were not suitable for calculating low flow statistics. R scripts used to compile and screen streamgage datasets of daily flow, perform...

Site, field, and soil data collected from 14 sites along a chronosequence of wetland submergence on 15 – 17 October 2019 in a Louisiana salt marsh in Barataria Basin, part of the Mississippi River Deltaic Plain, along the northern Gulf of Mexico coast.
U. S. Geological Survey (USGS) scientists completed a stream surveying campaign from the 25th of April to the 10th of June in 2022 at 100m reaches throughout 30 streams on the Delmarva Peninsula. The goal was to collect three cross sections, water surface elevation at the top and bottom of each reach, and thalweg point data at each study location to use the geomorphological surveys alongside habitat information. Together, these two sources of data can be used to create a habitat assessment of Delmarva Peninsula streams. Any use of trade, firm, or product names is for descriptive purposes only and does not imply endorsement by the U.S. Government.

This Open Geospatial Consortium (OGC) GeoPackage (.gpkg) contains water-well point features and associated tables for the state of Oklahoma that have been reformatted based on a USGS profile of the OGC GroundWaterML2 (GWML2) standard (https://docs.ogc.org/is/19-013/19-013.html). The water-well records provided in this data set have not received additional processing or interpretation by the USGS beyond the GWML2 standardization. The National Water-Well Database (NWWDB) is a compilation of water-well records from state-managed databases that have been standardized to a common format for consistency across state and administrative boundaries. Water-well completion reports that are submitted to permitting state agencies...

Additionally, the water-well records have been quality-assured to remove or nullify parts of water-well records found to be erroneous or logically inconsistent, harmonized via the assignment of common data codes in the lithologic log, and supplemented with estimates of transmissivity from the analysis of specific-capacity data. The National Water-Well Database (NWWDB) is a compilation of water-well records from state-managed databases that...

This dataset contains the trace elements, cations, anions, disinfection by-products, per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS), pharmaceutical and pesticide concentration results for the tapwater study conducted in California, November, 2020 through May, 2021. Trace elements, cations and anions were analyzed at the U.S. Geological Survey Redox Chemistry Laboratory in Boulder, Colorado. The disinfection by-product compounds were analyzed at the U.S. Geological Survey Organic Chemistry Research Laboratory in Sacramento, California. Concentration results for PFAS, as well as surrogate percent recovery information, were analyzed at the National Water Quality Laboratory (NWQL) in Denver, Colorado, and were added in...

Note: this data release is currently being revised and is temporarily unavailable. This data release contains approximately three years of modeled chlorophyll-a—a proxy for planktonic algal biomass—transport through a 394-km portion of the Illinois River. Defined by four distinct reaches, model estimates include daily water balance, velocities, and algal biomass separated into its components of net growth, net loss, transported from upstream, and input from tributaries.
Hand-held hyperspectral spectroscopy data were collected in 2022 in Franks Tract, a flooded area located in the central Sacramento-San Joaquin Delta of California. The data were collected from a boat and co-located within pixels from the Ocean Land Color Imaging (OLCI) sensor on the Sentinel-3A and 3-B satellites. Data from 16 sites within 7 OLCI pixels were collected on three days: July 14, August 3, and November 3, 2022. Radiance measurements from the water, sky, and a reflectance plaque were collected to enable calculation of water-leaving radiance (Mobley 1999, Ruddick et al. 2019). At the location of each spectroscopy site, discrete water samples were also collected and analyzed for chlorophyll a, dissolved...
