The Virginia Department of Conservation and Recreation – Natural Heritage Program (DCRDNH) and the Florida Natural Areas Inventory (FNAI) at Florida State University (collectively, Project Partners) were funded by the South Atlantic Landscape Conservation Cooperative (SALCC) in April 2015 to develop ten species distribution models (SDM) of priority at-risk and range-restricted species (Ambystoma cingulatum, Echinacea laevigata, Heterodon simus, Lindera melissifolia, Lythrum curtissii, Notophthalmus perstriatus, Phemeranthus piedmontanus, Rhus michauxii, and Schwalbea americana) for the purposes of incorporating the models and supporting information on the conservation and management needs of the species into the...

This dataset contains measures of seasonal mean bird stopover densities and in seasonal mean bird density based on weather surveillance radar data from 20 radar locations in the Northeast U.S. across seven autumn migrations (15 August through 7 November of 2008-2014) [six autumn migrations for the terminal doppler weather radar (15 August through 7 November of 2009-2014)]. Data are present only in radar-sampled areas for each individual radar (see below for description on how these data are filtered). If you are interested in a continuous map of bird stopover densities for the entire region (and outside of these radar coverage areas), refer to layer “Predicted autumn migratory landbird density, 1km, Northeast U.S.”.The...

This dataset “Broad-scale assessment of biophysical features in Colorado: Soil salinity using electrical conductance” presents information extracted from the Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) gridded surface soils geographic database (gSSURGO). Fields retained and presented here include map unit (MU) codes and component (COMP) codes that may be used to reference records in the original, NRCS, data. Soil salinity is typically measured and evaluated based on electrical conductance (EC), and values presented here include the representative value for the map unit component (ECR) and the highest estimated value (ECH). Soils with high salinity can affect the composition of vegetation and can limit production...

This dataset contains raster grids of water surface elevation for 15 modeled water-surface profiles at 5 flood frequencies (50- , 10,- 2- , 1- , and 0.2-percent annual exceedance probabilities, or 2- , 10- , 50- , 100- , and 500-year recurrence intervals) and 3 lake levels (representing average conditions, a 2-year-high condition, and a 100-year-high condition).

The dataset presented here represents a circa 1956 land/water delineation of coastal Louisiana used in part of a larger study to quantify landscape changes from 1932 to 2016. The original dataset was created by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, Office of Biological Services. The USGS Wetland and Aquatic Research Center altered the original data by improving the geo-rectification in specific areas known to contain geo-rectification error, most notably in coastal wetland areas in the vicinity of Four League Bay in western Terrebonne Basin. The dataset contains two categories, land and water. For the purposes of this effort, land includes areas characterized by emergent vegetation, upland, wetland forest, or scrub-shrub...

The dataset presented here represents a circa 1998 land/water delineation of coastal Louisiana used in part of a larger study to quantify landscape changes from 1932 to 2016. The dataset contains two categories, land and water. For the purposes of this effort, land includes areas characterized by emergent vegetation, upland, wetland forest, or scrub-shrub were classified as land, while open water, aquatic beds, and mudflats were classified as water. For additional information regarding this dataset, refer to USGS SIM 3381.

The percentage difference between mean modeled snow-water-equivalent (meters) on April 1 for the reference (1989-2011) climate period and mean modeled snow-water-equivalent on April 1 for the T4 climate change scenario. Reference period: the period 1989 – 2011 for the Upper Deschutes River Basin domain, for which observed historical meteorology is used for model input. T4 scenario: the observed historical (reference period) meteorology is perturbed by adding +4°C to each daily temperature record in the reference period meteorology, and this data is then used as input to the model.

Within large-river ecosystems, floodplains serve a variety of important ecological functions. A recent survey of 80 managers of floodplain conservation lands along the Upper and Middle Mississippi and Lower Missouri Rivers in the central United States found that the most critical information needed to improve floodplain management centered on metrics for characterizing depth, extent, frequency, duration, and timing of inundation. These metrics can be delivered to managers efficiently through cloud-based interactive maps. To calculate these metrics, we interpolated an existing one-dimensional HEC-RAS hydraulic model for the Lower Missouri River, which simulated water surface elevations at cross sections spaced (<1...

Data points intensively sampling 46 North American biomes were used to predict the geographic distribution of biomes from climate variables using the Random Forests classification tree. Techniques were incorporated to accommodate a large number of classes and to predict the future occurrence of climates beyond the contemporary climatic range of the biomes. Errors of prediction from the statistical model averaged 3.7%, but for individual biomes, ranged from 0% to 21.5%. In validating the ability of the model to identify climates without analogs, 78% of 1528 locations outside North America and 81% of land area of the Caribbean Islands were predicted to have no analogs among the 46 biomes. Biome climates were projected...

This data set contains links that are important to each species' habitat network. Those important links are scored based on the percent currently under protection status, projected change in climate suitability by the middle of the 21st century, and projected change in percent urbanized by the middle of the 21st century. Important links were identified from all links in the networks of each species based on their Integral Index of Connectivity (dIIC). Any links with dIIC scores > 0.9 or which connected to nodes with dIIC > 0.9 were retained here as "important" links.
Exposure (vulnerability) index for the future time period (2061-2080) representing projected climate conditions from the Meteorological Research Institute's Coupled Atmosphere-Ocean General Circulation Model, version 3, and the rcp85 emissions scenario. The exposure model uses LANDFIRE vegetation data and Worldclim climate data .The raster values represent exposure scores for the corresponding vegetation type. The modeled vegetation types can be spatially associated with the exposure values by overlaying them with the "landfire_veg_sw_300m.tif" raster.Exposure values represent where the location falls in climate space relative to its recent historical distribution:5 (core 5% of historical climate space); 10 (5 -...

This dataset represents the railways within a 5km buffer of the Crown of the Continent Ecosytem. This dataset contains all freely available spatial information on railways within the Crown of the Continent. Due to the free nature of the data, it is of mixed quality and should not necessarily be considered an exhaustive representaion.

Delineates outbreaks of the two focal species referred to as Mountain Pine Bettle Covers the CCE and 50km into the surrounding area from 2000 to 2015. This layer is a compilation from multiple sources, Bruce spanworm polygons were removed from Alberta data. This dataset was developed by the Crown Managers Partnership, as part of a transboundary collaborative management initiative for the Crown of the Continent Ecosystem, based on commonly identified management priorities that are relevant at the landscape scale. The CMP is collaborative group of land managers, scientists, and stakeholder in the CCE.
