The purpose of this data set is support resource allocation decisions (i.e. where to invest conservation effort) within the Gulf Coastal Plains and Ozarks Landscape Conservation Cooperative. The Protection Opportunity action map for the Upland Hardwood (Woodland) habitat system ranks pixels (250-m) based primarily on the Upland Hardwood (Woodland) Condition Index such that unprotected sites within healthy landscapes are ranked higher than those in very fragmented landscapes. Ranks are increased by information on existing partner interest (i.e. stated priority areas), elevated risk of change by 2060, and predicted occupancy of a majority of species identified in the GCPO LCC’s draft Integrated Science Agenda (v4)....

In large river ecosystems, the timing, extent, duration and frequency of floodplain inundation greatly affect the quality of fish and wildlife habitat and the supply of important ecosystem goods and services. Seasonal high flows provide connectivity from the river to the floodplain, and seasonal inundation of the floodplain governs ecosystem structure and function. This data represents an assessment of forest composition used in the ecological assessment of upland hardwood systems by the GCPO LCC. We used a combination of remote sensing products including 2011 National Land Cover Database (NLCD) forest classes and the 2011 MAV forest classification layer produced by the Lower Mississippi Valley Joint Venture to delineate patches of all forest types in the GCPO LCC. We used NLCD as the primary data source when assessing forests outside the GCPO LCC MAV subgeography, and the LMVJV forest classification as the primary data source for forest assessment within the MAV. This dataset consists of 122 magnetotelluric (MT) soundings collected in 2016 in the northern Harrat Rahat, located near the holy city of Al-Madinah Al-Munawarah in Saudi Arabia. These data were collected as part of a joint project between the U.S. Geological Survey and the Saudi Geological Survey examining the volcanic hazard associated with the harrat. Imaging the 3-D electrical resistivity structure of the crust and upper mantle beneath the harrat will help in understanding the magmatic system at depth.

This dataset contains absolute-gravity measurements made using an A-10 absolute gravity meter (Micro-g Lacoste, Inc.) in 2019 in Pinal County, Arizona. Measurements were made at a total of 19 different stations used by the Arizona Department of Water Resources (ADWR) to monitor aquifer-storage changes. Data are presented in tabular and spatial vector (point) form, including relevant parameters used for processing. Data were output by g software (Micro-g Lacoste, Inc.) version 9.12.04.23. A correction for laser-frequency drift was applied, based on regular calibration of the HeNe laser used in the A-10 against an iodine-stabilized laser.

These data include 217 median groundwater elevations computed from compiled measurements made in the year 2010 within the transboundary Mesilla/Conejos-Médanos Basin, United States and Mexico, along with their corresponding interpolated groundwater elevations and standard errors from the application of kriging. Of the 217 median groundwater elevation locations, 109 were in the United States and 108 were in Mexico. Considered measurements were limited to wells thought to be completed in the basin-fill/Santa Fe Group aquifer based on well records. This dataset includes hourly stream temperature data for 139 temperature logger sites throughout the Lahontan Basin Region of Northern Nevada and Eastern California. Data loggers were part a study beginning in 2017, with data available through 2019 for most locations. The spatial data layer contains site locations, geographic information, data summaries, mean August stream temperatures, and modeled NorWeST stream temperatures. The Wet-Dry delineation file contains daily flow status estimates derived from stream temperature data for each site. This digital elevation model provides a tool for calibrating tsunami risk to observations of the 1945 Makran tsunami in Karachi Harbour. The DEM bathymetry is derived from soundings made mainly during the first eight years after the tsunami. Although deficient in portraying intertidal backwaters and upland topography, the DEM accurately depicts the sheltered setting of one of the two tide gauges that recorded the 1945 tsunami.

Data on 17 metrics of shale gas development in the Pennsylvania portion of the Upper Susquehanna River basin that was collated from a variety of sources and summarized at the upstream catchment scale. This data release provides digital flight-line and gridded data for a high-resolution airborne magnetic and radiometric survey over the region surrounding the Wet Mountains of southern Colorado, including parts of Custer and Fremont Counties. Data for this survey were collected by Sander Geophysics Limited International (SGL) under contract with the USGS. Globally, groundwater dependent ecosystems (GDEs) are increasingly vulnerable to groundwater extraction and land use practices. Groundwater supports these ecosystems by providing inflow, which can maintain water levels, water temperature, and chemistry necessary to sustain the biodiversity that they support. Many aquatic systems receive groundwater as a portion of base flow, and in some systems (e.g., springs, seeps, fens) the connection with groundwater is significant and important to the system’s integrity and persistence.
