Sediment traps were deployed in tributaries to the San Juan River during 2021 and 2022. These traps collected sediment during storm events that typically occur as monsoonal convective storms from June to September. Because of the rural nature of the watershed, sediment traps were collected every 3 weeks so the sediment collected is a composite of that time period. The date listed is the date the trap was collected. This dataset includes the chemical concentrations of the sediment samples. Major ions are reported in weight percentage, while all other elements are reported in parts per million. Samples were fused at 750°C with sodium peroxide and the fusion cake dissolved in a dilute nitric acid. The resulting solution...
The contents of this data release represent the results of the noble gas composition analysis and are presented in support of the planned publication Gao et al., 2023, titled Lead and noble gas isotopic constraints on the origin of Te-bearing adularia-sericite epithermal Au-Ag deposits in a calc-alkaline magmatic arc. Tellurium (Te)-bearing adularia-sericite epithermal Au-Ag deposits are widely distributed in calc-alkaline magmatic arcs and are an important current and future source of precious and critical metals. However, the source of ore-forming fluids in these deposits remain unclear due to the lack of isotopic evidence on Au-, Ag-, and Te-bearing minerals. To advance understanding of the source of Te and precious...

This archive documents a Soil Water Balance (SWB) model of the The White River Basin, Washington and immediate surrounding environs. The SWB model is used to estimate surface processes of a water budget including precipitation, interception, evapotranspiration, surface runoff, etc. for the upper White River area from January 1999 - December 2020.
U. S. Geological Survey (USGS) scientists completed a stream surveying campaign from the 25th of April to the 10th of June in 2022 at 100m reaches throughout 30 streams on the Delmarva Peninsula. The goal was to collect three cross sections, water surface elevation at the top and bottom of each reach, and thalweg point data at each study location to use the geomorphological surveys alongside habitat information. Together, these two sources of data can be used to create a habitat assessment of Delmarva Peninsula streams. Any use of trade, firm, or product names is for descriptive purposes only and does not imply endorsement by the U.S. Government.

This map layer contains the shallowest principal aquifers of the conterminous United States, Hawaii, Puerto Rico, and the U.S. Virgin Islands, portrayed as polygons. The map layer was developed as part of the effort to produce the maps published at 1:2,500,000 in the printed series "Ground Water Atlas of the United States". The published maps contain base and cultural features not included in these data. This is a replacement for the July 1998 map layer called Principal Aquifers of the 48 Conterminous United States.

This imagery dataset consists of 3-meter resolution, lidar-derived imagery of the Lewisburg 30 x 60 minute quadrangle in Virginia and West Virginia. The source data used to construct this imagery consists of 1-meter resolution lidar-derived digital elevation models (DEMs). The lidar source data were compiled from different acquisitions published between 2020 and 2021. The data were processed using geographic information systems (GIS) software. The data is projected in WGS 1984 Web Mercator. This representation illustrates the terrain as a hillshade with contrast adjusted to highlight local relief according to a topographic position index (TPI) calculation.

Note: this data release has been deprecated. Please see new data release here: https://doi.org/10.5066/P9W148A1. This dataset is part of the National Water Census Water Budget Estimation and Evaluation Project's ongoing development of best estimates of daily historical water budgets for about 100,000 hydrologic units across the United States. In this release, estimates of soil moisture and recharge are added to the already released estimates of streamflow and precipitation. All these estimates are made available per twelve-digit hydrologic unit code watershed as contained in the NHDPlusV2 dataset. As this project progresses, it is expected that a complete closed water budget generated from the same water budget...
Note: This data release is currently under revision and is temporarily unavailable. The U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) has developed and implemented an algorithm that identifies burned areas in temporally dense time series of Landsat Analysis Ready Data (ARD) scenes to produce the Landsat Burned Area Products. The algorithm makes use of predictors derived from individual ARD Landsat scenes, lagged reference conditions, and change metrics between the scene and reference conditions. Scene-level products include pixel-level burn probability (BP) and burn classification (BC) images, corresponding to each Landsat image in the ARD time series. Annual composite products are also available by summarizing the scene level...

This study applied historical aerial imagery and satellite imagery to create digital surface models (DSMs) of the Helmand River Valley situated in southwestern Afghanistan. The historical imagery, collected in 1952 by Fairchild Aerial Surveys Incorporated (FAS), at 1:40,000 scale, represents the earliest known aerial photographic archive of the Helmand Valley landscape. Structure-from-motion (SfM) multi-view stereo (MVS) photogrammetric techniques were used together with ground control points collected from high resolution satellite imagery to create a 5m digital elevation model (DEM) and 2m orthoimage. The historical DEM was evaluated for accuracy against a 2006 5m DEM using SPOT-5 HRG satellite imagery which was...
Provided are data containing condition assessments on individual giant sequoia (Sequoiadendron giganteum; SEGI) stems and post-fire regeneration counts within Board Camp, Suwanee, New Oriole Lake, Homer’s Nose, and a subset of Redwood Mountain and Dillonwood groves of Sequoia and Kings Canyon national parks, respectively. Stem data contain condition-related attributes (e.g., spatial location, diameter breast height, status - live or dead, percent canopy that is live, scorched or torched). Regeneration plots are located using a spatially-balanced sampling design (Generalized Random Tessellation Stratified - 'GRTS'). Each regeneration plot is a fixed radius circle (11.35 meters or 17.84 meters) and contain count data...

Multi sequence file (.msf) file used to construct a 28S rRNA phylogenetic tree of species of Euryhelmis and other heterophyid trematodes. Sequences were generated from metacercariae samples at U.S. Geological Survey National Wildlife Health Center (NWHC) and compared for base pair similarities with publicly available sequences from GenBank using BLAST (https://blast.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/Blast.cgi). Selection of GenBank sequences to include in the .msf file was based on the number of base pair similarities (94% or higher identity to this study’s sequences), 98–100% coverage AND stage of parasite from which the sequence was generated. An excel file listing all parasites and DNA from NWHC vouchered with the University...

Note: this data release is currently being revised and is temporarily unavailable. This data release contains approximately three years of modeled chlorophyll-a—a proxy for planktonic algal biomass—transport through a 394-km portion of the Illinois River. Defined by four distinct reaches, model estimates include daily water balance, velocities, and algal biomass separated into its components of net growth, net loss, transported from upstream, and input from tributaries.
The Shenanadoah Salamander (Plethodon shenandoah) is an endangered salamander found only in the mountains of Shenandoah National Park. Field surveys of the salamander were conducted from 2007-2022 using daytime cover object surveys. In order to capture the totality of P. shendandoah’s range we sampled from low to high elevation across a broad geographic range. We created a spatial generalized additive model with aspect, latitude, longitude, and elevation and heat load index (HLI) to predict salamander occupancy and create a new range map based on our extended surveys. All spatial covariates were extracted from a 15m digital elevation model layer of Shenandoah National Park. Temperature and precipitaiton data were...
