This dataset contains measurements of chemical concentrations of soil samples representing 28 headwater drainage basins completely within the Adirondack Park of New York State (ADK Park), one basin partially in the ADK Park, and one watershed 2 kilometers from the ADK Park boundary. Seven of these watersheds have been sampled 2 or 3 times over periods of 12 to 22 years. Soil samples were collected from pit faces exposed by shoveling. Total mass of organic matter, carbon and nitrogen in the forest floor are also presented for 16 headwater drainage basins in the ADK Park. Forest floor mass data were determined from samples collected with soil corers. The presented data are organized by six projects: the Adirondack...

This data release includes estimates of potassium (K), equivalent uranium (eU), and equivalent thorium (eTh) for the conterminous United States derived from the U.S. Geological Survey's national airborne radiometric data compilation (Duval and others, 2005). Airborne gamma ray spectrometry (AGRS) measures the gamma-rays that are emitted from naturally occurring radioactive isotopes found in rocks and soil, the most abundant of which are potassium (K40), uranium (U238), and thorium (Th232). Radiometric data can aid in exploration of critical mineral resources, including deposits of barium, fluorine, titanium, beryllium, niobium, rare-earth elements, and uranium. There is also growing interest in using radiometric...

Point clouds, high resolution digital surface models (DSM), and high resolution orthoimagery of Palmyra Atoll, USA, were generated from aerial 3-color and 5-band imagery collected October 2016 using Unoccupied Aerial Systems (UAS, or "drones"). Data were processed in sections corresponsing to flight areas using photogrammetry to generate three-dimensional point clouds (.las) by identifying pixels from multiple images representing the same object and calculating the x, y, and z coordinates of that object/pixel. Point clouds for each section were processed to create DSMs (.tif) representing the continuous surface of the uppermost reflective surface (i.e., data have not been filtered for vegetation classes or height)....

Residence time distribution (RTD) is a critically important characteristic of groundwater flow systems; however, it cannot be measured directly. RTD can be inferred from tracer data with analytical models (few parameters) or with numerical models (many parameters). The second approach permits more variation in system properties but is used less frequently than the first because large-scale numerical models can be resource intensive. With the data and computer codes in this data release users can (1) reconstruct and run 115 General Simulation Models (GSMs) of groundwater flow, (2) calculate groundwater age metrics at selected GSM cells, (3) train a boosted regression tree model using the provided data, (4) predict...

The U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) in cooperation with the Little Rock District, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers conducted a bathymetric survey of the Black River from Clearwater Lake Dam near Piedmont, Missouri, to southern Butler County, Missouri, from June 16-19, 2020 and from June 22-24, 2020. One hundred and eight sites were surveyed at pre-established transect locations along a 45-mile reach at distances spaced from about 0.3 to 2 miles apart. River-channel cross sections were surveyed to determine water depths along each transect using an acoustic Doppler current profiler (ADCP). Positional location of the water-depth locations was obtained from a global positioning system receiver onboard the ADCP. Water-surface...
This dataset consists of rate-of-change statistics for the coastal bluffs and shorelines at Barter Island, Alaska, for the time period 1947 to 2020. Rate calculations were computed within a GIS using the Digital Shoreline Analysis System (DSAS) version 5.0, an ArcGIS extension developed by the U.S. Geological Survey. A reference baseline was used as the originating point for the orthogonal transects cast by the DSAS software. The transects intersect bluff edges and shorelines establishing measurement points, which are then used to calculate change rates.

In 'Predicted (1989-2015) and forecasted (2015-2114) rate of change and recovery of sagebrush (Artemisia spp.) following energy development in southwestern Wyoming, USA', we provide spatially- and temporally-explicit maps of predictions for the rate of change and time to recovery and percent recovery of sagebrush cover after 100 years (Monroe et al. In revision). The rasters beginning with "sage.rate" depict the predicted annual rate of change in sagebrush cover for each timestamp interval, across the Wyoming Landscape Conservation Initiative area (WLCI) in southwestern Wyoming, USA (1989-2015). The files 'time_to_recov.tif' and 'perc_recov.tif' are rasters for predicted time to recovery and percent recovery after...
