These data were compiled to provide a resource for other researchers interested in water-surface elevations and flow velocity across a wide range of discharge in the study reach for the project. Objective(s) of our study were to construct a two-dimensional hydrodynamic model for the 15.8 mile tailwater reach of the Colorado River in Glen Canyon between Glen Canyon Dam and Lees Ferry, Arizona. These data represent the results of the two-dimensional modeling effort with each data table (50) including the results of each run of the model. Additionally, other data represent a comparison of modeled water surface elevations to measured water surface elevations for historic Bureau of Reclamation cross sections in the study...

These data are high-resolution bathymetry (riverbed elevation) in compressed LAS (*.laz) format, generated from the July 17–19, 2023, hydrographic survey of Bubbly Creek and various sidings, harbors, and turning basins on the Chicago Sanitary and Ship Canal (CS&SC) in Cook County, Illinois. The survey includes all Bubbly Creek from the confluence with the CS&SC in the north to the Racine Avenue Pump station in the south; various sidings and turning basins along the CS&SC between Kedzie Avenue and South Halsted Street; and the Marine Safety Station harbor near the Chicago Harbor Lock on Lake Michigan. This survey is a continuation and enhancement of the bathymetric survey of the CS&SC in Cook County, Illinois, conducted...

These data represent total vegetation and surface water along approximately 12 kilometers of the Paria River upstream from the confluence of the Colorado River at Lees Ferry, Arizona. They are derived from airborne, multispectral imagery obtained in late May 2009, 2013, and 2021, collected with a push-broom sensor with 4 spectral bands depicting Blue, Green, Red and Near-Infrared wavelengths at a spatial resolution of 20 centimeters. The vegetation classification data were created using a supervised classification algorithm provided by Harris Geospatial in ENVI version 5.6.3 (Exelis Visual Information Solutions, Boulder, Colorado). The water data were created using a Green Normalized Difference Vegetation Index...

These data were compiled to create models that estimate entrainment rates and population growth rates of smallmouth bass below Glen Canyon Dam. Objective(s) of our study were to predict smallmouth bass entrainment rates and population growth under different future scenarios of Lake Powell elevations and management. These data represent parameters needed for associated models and data needed to produce figures. These data were collected from publicly available online sources including published papers and federal government datasets. These data were assembled by researchers from U.S. Geological Survey, Utah State University, Colorado State University, U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service. These data can be used to run...

This dataset consists of 122 magnetotelluric (MT) soundings collected in 2016 in the northern Harrat Rahat, located near the holy city of Al-Madinah Al-Munawarah in Saudi Arabia. These data were collected as part of a joint project between the U.S. Geological Survey and the Saudi Geological Survey examining the volcanic hazard associated with the harrat. Imaging the 3-D electrical resistivity structure of the crust and upper mantle beneath the harrat will help in understanding the magmatic system at depth.

The Stream Conditions of Chester County Biological Monitoring Network was established by the U.S. Geological Survey and the Chester County Water Resources Authority in 1969. Benthic-macroinvertebrate, habitat, and stream chemistry data were collected annually from 1998-2021 at 18 fixed location sites. Additionally, nine flexible location sites were selected and sampled annually from 1998-2021. Some of the flexible location sites were sampled more than once over the study period. All data were collected in the fall months (October-November) during baseflow conditions. The benthic-macroinvertebrate data collected was used to calculate six metrics and to establish an index of biotic integrity for each sample, while...

From August 2018 to October 2019, the U.S. Geological Survey collected spatially high-resolution water quality data as part of five shoreline synoptic surveys around the perimeters of Owasco, Seneca, and Skaneateles Lakes within the Finger Lakes Region of New York. Water-quality data were collected just below water surface utilizing YSI EXO2 multiparameter sondes and portable nitrate sensors paired with real-time GPS data as part of a HABs monitoring program in the Finger Lakes. In October 2019, water-quality data collection was paired with discrete phytoplankton grab samples on Owasco Lake and Seneca Lake. Phytoplankton grab samples were collected just below water surface with a peristaltic pump at twelve locations...

This dataset of the elevation of basement and thickness of sediment above the syn- and post-rift unconformity (sediments above being generally Late Cretaceous and younger) was constructed for application to site response models in earthquake hazard analyses. Sediment thickness in meters is provided in zipped csv format on a 0.01-degree grid, and sediment thickness and basement elevation in meters relative to mean sea level are provided in GeoTIFF format on a 1-km grid.

These data were released prior to the October 1, 2016 effective date for the USGS’s policy dictating the review, approval, and release of scientific data as referenced in USGS Survey Manual Chapter 502.8 Fundamental Science Practices: Review and Approval of Scientific Data for Release. The elevation contour data was created based on bathymetry obtained in the meander reach collected in about a one month period extending from 6/3/2010 - 6/19/2010. This subset data extends from river kilometer designator 228 upstream to 237. Similar methods used to collect and process the bathymetry are described in Fosness (2013). The contours were created from a surface raster (also referred to as digital elevation model) of the...

This digital geospatial data set consists of contours of lines of equal apparent thickness of the Trinidad Sandstone, the interval between the tops of the Trinidad Sandstone and the Pierre Shale, in Las Animas County, Colorado. The U.S. Geological Survey developed this data set as part of a cooperative project with the Colorado Water Conservation Board. Sources and interpretation of the data that were used to prepare this map are...

The data release documents the development of a hybrid (statistical-mechanistic) SPARROW (SPAtially Referenced Regression On Watershed attributes) model of long-term mean annual total nitrogen applied to streams and rivers of the Grande River Basin, Brazil. The model coupled observed long-term average total nitrogen loads at monitoring locations with additional explanatory variables (e.g., landscape sources, wastewater treatment plant inputs, and in-stream nitrogen losses) to estimate nitrogen loading to all reaches in the modeled area. The model was applied to estimate the effects of hypothetical changes in land use and discharge from wastewater treatment on in-stream total nitrogen loading, as described in the...

This digital data set defines the boundary of the area contributing ground-water flow to the Death Valley regional ground-water flow-system (DVRFS) model domain. The boundary encompasses an approximate 112,000 square-kilometer region and was based on a map of regional potential developed by Bedinger and Harrill (2004). Where possible, the amount of lateral flow across the segments of the DVRFS model boundary from (or to) the contributing...

These data were released prior to the October 1, 2016 effective date for the USGS’s policy dictating the review, approval, and release of scientific data as referenced in USGS Survey Manual Chapter 502.8 Fundamental Science Practices: Review and Approval of Scientific Data for Release. Recharge in the Death Valley regional ground-water flow system (DVRFS) was estimated from net infiltration simulated by Hevesi and others (2003) using a deterministic mass-balance method. Hevesi and others (2003) estimated potential recharge for the DVRFS, an approximately 100,000 square- kilometer region of southern Nevada and California, using the net-infiltration model, INFILv3. Net infiltration, estimated on a cell-by-cell basis,...

Groundwater age distributions and susceptibility to natural and anthropogenic contaminants were assessed for selected wells, streambed piezometers, and springs in southeastern Minnesota. The data provide information to understand how long it will take to observe groundwater quality improvements from best management practices implemented at land surface to reduce losses of nitrate (and other chemicals) from agricultural practices. Nineteen water samples were collected from ten wells, three streambed piezometers, and four springs between August 2020 and September 2022. Two of these samples are field replicate samples collected from a spring site and a well site. A child item contains historical data from 15 water...
